Fatboy199's Journal, 14 Jan 20

I have eaten clean two days in a row. It's weird though. I want very much to lose a 100lbs but for different reasons than I used to have.
My goals are different, my desires are different and even though I read every day about balance, portions and moderation in everything....when it comes to eating that just isn't me!
My 3 most lethal saboteurs to my dieting success is pasta, pizza and burgers. Not sure I will ever succeed with those items continuing in my life.
As a young Italian kid my love for pasta, for reference sake...the Sunday Italian dinner with bowls of pasta smothered in a sauce that cooked sausages, meatballs, pork and beef, which would be plated in big platters placed aside of the pasta and we would eat until we were engorged.
I still make this dinner and yet it is the most dangerous thing because once I indulge, I go backwards and fast!
That love for pasta has never wavered and to this day I find myself in fits over a big plate of pasta.
I am sure everyone has their Achilles Heel of food items that are a double-edge sword?
Anyway, I will definitely need to get counseling and a personal life coach to overcome such an addiction.

My short-term goal of 275lbs by February 18th is still in play, and totally doable.
I get on a plane to see our son and his family in Washington DC and I want to fit into the seat more comfortably.

Try making half a box (or half the recipe if it’s all homemade)and getting a smaller plate. Once it’s gone- you can’t eat anymore 🤷🏻‍♀️ it might help. But I understand- pizza is my down fall!!! 🍕

You can do this..small steps.......... have a long talk with yourself before you take that first bite of pasta...or any of the “danger”foods......tell yourself I will have 1 portion no more because I can always make it again in a week if I want more.... Hope that helps.....worth a try..... I do this....talk to myself all the time LOL

The first step is to eat smaller portions of healthy foods til that seems more the norm. At some point plan a pasta meal. Using toppings that are healthy like veggies, tomatoes, & protein cook enough pasta for one serving per person and enjoy! I always wanted a second serving when I cooked pasta at home...even if I was already full. If you're eating in a restaurant either share a dish with someone or divide a large serving in half & immediately box it up for a later meal.

Not the healthiest meals but if you're into reduced portion size which will cut down on total calories in take, try Banquet TV Dinners. Also easy on the budget.

Practice, practice, practice! It makes perfect. Avoidance will just lead to binging. You're like me, I can't eat "clean", just practice counting calories and eating what you like in moderation.

Prepare your pasta and sauce, divide it into correct portions, put one portion on your plate and refrigerate or freeze the other portions for other meals. Eat a low-cal salad before your pasta and some low-cal vegetables with it. Also, eat slowly and savor every bite. You can do this, it gets easier over time, I promise. And the rewards of successful weight loss are worth it. Good luck on your journey!

I struggle too!! Lately, in those moments, I have found myself looking up the nutritional specs before I decide to indulge. The diary on this app is almost spot on. I check what I have left in my RDI versus how much that dish/item has. Sometimes my better thinking half wins and sometimes she doesn't! No one is perfect and sometimes we balance it out over the next few days. Try what works for you!

Folks, Definitely appreciate the suggestions. My last few days has been just what I needed. The whole pasta thing is something I am going to have to overcome if I am to really have long-term success.

I just don't eat pasta or bread anymore. Red sauce on spaghetti squash or zuchinni noodles works for me. - with whatever meat and cheese.

Complete avoidance doesn't work.

Just keep at it. You are making progress, but counseling might help and is certainly worth your effort.
