Debbie Cousins's Journal, 15 Nov 19

This morning, I got up and weighed in at 206 (my highest in 18 months, I think). I ate a piece of cake and went back to bed! Since I got back up, I have managed to be a little more productive. Picking up the grandkids at 3:30 to keep them both overnight. They both REALLY enjoy coming to Grammie's house, for which I am extremely thankful! Yesterday, the little one (3-3/4) FaceTimed me (with a little help from his mom) and asked if I would come get him. When I told him, "not today; but I'll see you tomorrow," he broke down in tears! I had already seen him on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, so I guess he got used to coming every day.

I didn't record what I ate yesterday, but it wasn't pretty! I had three little bowls of Cheetos & Pretzels, two pieces of cake, and either 4 or 6 pieces of bread. I THINK I was thinking, "You're going to be getting back on track soon, so you better eat everything you won't be able to have!" I say destructive things like that to myself all the time. Still drinking ONLY Diet Coke again! That's my lifelong "thorn in the flesh!" I'm just as addicted to that as some people are to alcohol or drugs. Sigh. Will I never get back on track?

I just put in my weight from this morning, and got a lovely message that said, "You are gaining at a rate of 10.5 pounds per week. Click OK to accept!" Who wants to accept that?!!! Maybe if it said, "You are gaining weight at a rate of 546 pounds per year," it would shock me into doing something about it! When I'm "only" gaining at a rate of 7 pounds per week, that's still 364 pounds a year! This is ridiculous!

If you don't buy coke you won't have it around. Meaning you will have to go out of your way to get it. Keep bottled water in the refrigerator and always keep it around. You just have to make up your mind that you are done with the coke. :) I've got faith in you and know you got this!

I keep a case of water in my kitchen - we have to make a special trip for soda. Most of the time I won't. too much trouble.

I stopped baking. no junk food in my house. but atlas, this is a mind thing. We have to make a commitment not to eat unhealthy foods that just clog arteries and send us to the doctor. Debbie I'm praying for you.

Also, I eat what I want and I log it then adjust as I go along. Keeping in check is hard but I have recommitted to taking care of myself and losing weight is my main focus.

Wow grand kids crying because they want to be with you so much? That is kinda priceless. You could have just declared "Life is Good" and signed off :)

We all know it's a mental exercise. One victory leads to another, and another. I hope you find the strength to create those important victories. 💛💚💜

Were all struggling in some way. It's what caused the problem in the first place. We use food to contain and bottle up those feelings we need to release. Hope I learn how soon, or my belly will explode. . . God bless us all on our journeys.

SodaStream! Just a suggestion. I'm almost completely cured of soda cravings. Now I crave bubbly water or fruit flavored water. It was a slow thing, though. :)
