Bella, see my sign I made from a quote you posted?! It is a continual reminder to make decisions with an eye to the future. "Gargoyle," my son's kitty, observes and disapproves of choices! The pantry door and refrigerator are favorite spots to judge my cooking skills. His papa was a Bengal and his mama a Maine Coon. This fun,"accident" kitty was a gift to us!

Hahah! Thanks guys! The crazy beast is NOT allowed on my counters, but he will take a flying run across the kitchen and bounce from one tiny corner of the counter up to the top of the door before I can chase him off. Once he gets there, I am so impressed and also afraid he will fall, that I leave him alone and go about life while he watches from his perch. I think it is the Asian leopard blood far back in his family tree that makes him want to get to the highest spot no mater how difficult or precarious.

What a climber.

I had a cat once that could get on top of the glass shower door. But none of my current 4 cats are real climbers - they only go as high as they can jump, usually to a shelf in the linen closet.

Funny cat. We had a cat that climbed curtains, liked to perch on top of the curtain rod.

The crazy thing is Gargoyle doesn't climb there! He doesn't leave a scratch or mark. He runs into the kitchen and leaps from a tiny corner of the counter to the top of the door. How he can land and then balance on a tiny, unstable door, I do not know! 😁 Fritzy, his brother, whom a friend of mine has, does somehow get to the top of their glass shower door. Crazy critters! 😁

Probably his Bengal heritage gives him the balance to perch high up ??? But that’s one beautiful kitty with his pointy ears 🐱

What a beautiful kitty. They all love to go to high places!

But, really the reason for this post is the sign! I decided to add the kitty. Really! Being reminded that the temporary "satisfaction" available in my fridge or pantry is not worth missing long term GOALS, really helps me.

I love it!!!!!!

Thanks, you alls! He really is special. I wish the lighting was better and you could see his amazing green eyes and fantastic swirly coat. He is devoted to my one son. Kind of a one "man" cat, but is always a perfect gentleman even if a bit aloof toward the rest of the family.

Maine Coon, I thought of you when adding his heritage to the post!!! His mama is magnificently beautiful! He only grew to a little over 12 pounds, and I have to say I am glad he got his papa's less troublsome coat. 😁 He barely sheds and is sort of hypoallergenic as a bonus! He doesn't make me sneeze or get swollen, running eyes like other cats when I pet him!

For me I have learned in life for every decision there is a long term and short term sacrifice and benefit that results in something longterm.. A cat on the counter, door or refrigerator adds much love and joy in my daily life but involves daily feeding litterbox and fur busting. At the end of that relationship with my cat I will remember the unconditional love and joy. Just like my woe. It might sound like a crazy conection to some but a splurge today in my diet is short term joy that long term I will look back and regret. Having a cat jump on the counter or fridge or cleaning up a litter box.... no regrets. But a donut, cake, cookies or other cheat today in the long term making that decision may end in long term regret. Hope this makes sense and some of you will understand me.
