Had a bad day at dialysis. They accidently pulled too much fluid, and my legs have been cramping all afternoon. This also caused my bad hip to act up even worse. As a result, I really wasn't hungry for lunch. I know it isn't good to skip meals, but I slept for 3 1/2 hours and just couldn't make myself eat.
Good news, I stopped using cream in my coffee today. It really hasn't been that bad, and I feel good about myself.
The oven roasted green beans with almonds were so good and so filling. Will make again. Chicken tenders with honey and mustard were also good, but I really couldn't taste the honey. Next time I will skip the honey as it is a waste of calories.

That’s rough 😔 can you add a magnesium supplement on dialysis? It’s tough because you can’t really increase certain things on dialysis like water. Ice always breaks my severe leg cramps, especially in the thighs. Just use a barrier. I learned the hard way by putting frozen pork chops on my thighs in the middle of the night and falling asleep because it worked, only to wake up with ice burn🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️😂😂🤷🏻‍♀️

The only supplement I've ever had is Vitamin D (which is common), and I don't need currently. My nephrologist and dietitian haven't mentioned magnesium supplements, so I'll ask the next time we discuss my bloodwork. I drank extra water today (per the nurses), and decreased my coffee intake (usually decaf). They suggested pickle juice, but I was hurting too much to make a trip to the store just to buy pickles. No ice, but I tried lots of stretching and it helped. I'm 90% better tonight. Thanks for the magnesium suggestion.

Binkytexas I was a dialysis nurse for a number of years. I would not take any electrolyte supplements or vitamins without running it past your doc first.

Absolutely Kenna.

Kenna, thanks. The old me would have grabbed a Gatorade, but that's a no no. I was taking a dialysis vitamin supplement (Dialyvite with Zinc, recommended by my nephrologist(, but it ran out and I need to order it again. Yes, I will check with my doctor and dietitian. THANKS for your expertise!

Sorry dialysis sucked today. Hope you weren't cramping while you were on the machine very much. I know how much it sucks when they won't let you get up and at least stretch the muscle. You're already on such a restrictive diet, losing weight on top of watching your phosphorus, potassium, liquids, etc is going to be tough. Having a bad dialysis day doesn't make it any easier. Rest up. Tomorrow is a day off (I assume you go 3 days a week?). Feel better.

Binkytexas. Have they recalculated your dry weight recently?

Actually yes. We just lowered it 1/2 a kilo. I called the center last night and found out that it was human error. I go for 3 hours, 15 minutes. The should have pulled .5 kilo and I'm an easy pull. I got on at 6:30. By 8:00 they had to turn me off because of extreme cramps and headache. Blood pressure dropped. They ended up giving me at least .5 saline, just kept giving it to me. I left 1 1/2 kilos UNDER my dry weight and only had it pulling for an hour and a half. I'm thinking that they must have entered 5 instead of .5. That's just a guess.

I make roasted green beans with sliced almond. I add a little soy sauce. Delicious.
