HCB's Journal, 15 Jan 13

I am still revolving around the same weight on the "Idiot Box" this morning. It is beginning to look a lot like "stuck."

The "Idiot Box" does not reflect my return to an improved process: better food choices, drinking lots of water, increasing the protein, reducing the carbs, and more often moving my body.

I am not unhappy with my lifestyle, my food options, or health; I am unhappy to be "stuck."

I know what has worked in the past - shake it up either calorically or through exercise. I did an intermittent fast day from Sunday night to Monday night. I felt fine and feel lighter today - but the "Idiot Box" disagrees.

We will see if the changes catch up with me next weigh-in.

Still grateful for:

- The people I love who love me back!
- The good health of my loved ones
- My FS Buddies who support and encourage me to continue
- "Butt-kicking" myself to a smaller size today

Being stuck is indeed frustrating, but it sure is better than gaining back what you have already lost. And, as you well stated, the scale does not reflect the health benefits of your new life style. It is only a single purpose tool and cannot be expected to measure our multi-faceted lives. Keep up the good work.

Ya, sounds like it's time to shake it up a little! The body's adjusted to your usual routine! Maybe some HIIT? That always stokes my fire!

I hear ya with the frustration at being stuck. But it is so true that the process is its own reward - we feel so much better both mentally and physically when we eat healthy and move more. The number on the scale is not the be all and end all. There is so much more to this journey that a number simply can't define. Good job keeping your head in the game. We just have to keep trying new things. Something will give eventually.

The cursed plateau!! I am right with you!! I know you will figure out something and be moving on down the weight scale before long!

I know all about stuck - and all I can say for me is that it is my own damn fault. You are so conscientious about fat grams and protein grams and carbs and drinking all of your water and strength training. I know it will move soon for you! And maybe for me too!

Yep, yep.... you know what to do - excited to see if mixing it up can get you 'unstuck'!! I'm sure of it!

We call it an idiot box for a reason -- it just doesn't get it! I'm sure you'll see the movement there soon, so hang in there! And, good for you for mixing it up with the fast -- that'd show that box a thing or two... or a lb or two! xoxo

I haven't ever tried a fast, but I might do that soon to see how I do. Hopefully the men in my life could survive it because I think I would be grumpy!! I have lost more around my waist, but the scale is creeping up. Good luck on moving down again by mixing things up. You are a very determined lady and I know you can attain the goals you set. :)

WTG on getting back on track, HCB! Your body might take a few weeks to accept that you aren't starving it, so stick with it. Take your measurements when the scales get stuck. Sometimes, you are losing inches and not body weight. That is what you want to do, right.... lose inches? Hope this helps. Hugs! :)

Look at you; you're the incredible shrinking woman! You're doing great! A few days without loss is not a setback - look at the big picture. Keep up the good work; you're getting there.
