Debbie Cousins's Journal, 18 Apr 19

I can't believe I've lost FOURTEEN pounds in just seven weeks in the Swimsuit Slimdown challenge! I really like having the longer challenge because the weight-loss numbers just keep piling up every week! Still five more weeks to go (#8-#12), and I could potentially lose ANOTHER ten pounds! I'm really quite shocked at how fast the weight is coming off - especially since I've incorporated fruit into my WOE!

The next Swimsuit Slimdown will start on 5/24 (registration will start about 5/13) and it will run for 7 weeks (thru 7/18). I'd love to see some of my regular "challengees" hop on board for the longer ride. (There will be a 3rd in the series, which will take us through Labor Day - the maximum you can have in one challenge is 12 weeks.)

That is so awesome. Keep up the numbers ! I want to lose slower and am happy at my blood test results that i am getting all vitamins and nutrients, and in good health. I feel great and have time to just eat well and lose gradually. I am more interested in that than losing mega and burning muscle than retaining muscle and gaining overall health. Everyone's goals and needs are different of course and good luck to all and i do know the positivity and belief that do make it possible, just i recentlly quit smoking. If you want it, and belief you can do it, you can!

Thank you, everyone, for your sweet words of encouragement and support. @TaraJ5387 and @kickingcarbs, you can join the Daily Accountability 2019-#16 challenge HERE: https://www.fatsecret.com/challenges/daily-accountability-2019-16/Home.aspx. Just copy and paste that into your browser. If that doesn't work, from your FatSecret page, just click on the tab that says Challenges and search for Daily Accountability and select challenge #16. I'd LOVE to have you both on board!

Ooops, @kickingcarbs and @TaraJ5387, I just realized that this Journal entry was about the Swimsuit Slimdown challenges! I gave you info for the ONE-WEEK challenges that start new every Monday. I won't be able to create Part Two of that until about 5/13-14 (since you can only set up a challenge a maximum of 10 days before it starts). It will be called "SwimSuit Slimdown - Early Summer Edition". (or maybe Part 2? - not sure about the extension yet, but definitely watch for "Swimsuit Slimdown" because that will be the beginning of the title!

14 lbs in 7 weeks!! You’re doing very well. I am very happy for your continuing success. Congratulations!

Debbie- you are like the poster child for all of us who don't restrict carbs that come from fruit, veg and other "healthy" foods !!! It's the carbs that offer little more than calories which are the ones you need to watch and monitor. Carbs from the right sources are packed full of nutrition, soluble and insulube fiber and even protein. Keep up the good work!!!

I kinda feel like a traitor, @gogogirl59, to LC/HF-Keto which I have been doing for over a year now. I had great results with that, and still embrace the method, and all of the wonderful people who follow it. I just feel like God made all these beautiful fruits and vegetables, and he intended for us to be able to eat and enjoy them! I still need to work on balancing the fruits with more vegetables, but I'm making progress. Right now, it's all kinda an experiment, but as long as I am able to continue to eat all these yummy fruits WITOUT impeding my weight loss, that's what I'll be doing. DISCLAIMER: As with all of us, my opinions are solely my OWN, and not intended to be medical or dieting advice to anybody else. It is only NOW in my weight-loss Journey that I am able to be at this juncture. In the past, if I'd have had ONE piece of fruit, I would have felt like I had failed, and ditched my whole WOE and gone "hog wild and pig crazy" for months before getting back on track! Who know's, @keyten77, maybe someday I'll be poster child #2 for the Mediterranean WOE (YOU will always be #1 in my book!)

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you, Debbie, for posting the web address for the FatSecret challenges. I use the app on an iPad and there is no tab for Challenges. I’ve been wondering how to find them since you first mentioned one you were doing back in January. I now have the website bookmarked, and will be joining a challenge soon! Thanks, again, and keep up the awesome work! 😊👍🏻

Debbie- Back in the day many years ago I did a variety of things to drop 25 lbs. Some vegan, or veg diets, some atkins low carb high protein, no"whitefoods". All were to restrictive for me in the long term because they either eliminated or restricted entire food groups. This has worked for me but the journey is a little slower but I dont ever feel like I have to cheat, justify a reward. I think most people on FS have had different journeys at different times in their life. You are not a traitor... just an advocate that you can lose weight and not deny yourself healthy nutritional foods. Keyten is also top of my list. Her creations are inspiring and show how creative you can be and not get bored with the same old foods.
