59Carol's Journal, 26 Mar 19

Today is a red letter day for me! I have finally prepped and cooked a meal. In all fairness I have been making my breakfast consistently but I have not been making lunch or supper. I have supper happening soon. Nothing too exciting -- baked chicken thighs, rice and roasted broccoli. This is the first meal that I have planned, prepped and cooked in close to two months. I am a cook and I love to cook so this is quite unusual. The month of February was on the fly eating a lot of cafeteria food at the hospital and then since I have been home after my husband's death (it has been two weeks) I just haven't wanted to, made time to, bought any groceries, not sure why I haven't. It did feel like a big deal to do so this afternoon. I am reaching for normal again!

Sorry for your loss. I don't have any words to make it better. I don't think anyone does, really. But I do know what it feels like to love someone and lose them. God speed!!

Am so glad you were able to make that dinner. Now there will be other things you will slowly be able to resume. No, it will never be the same, but life is that way. We don't want to lose those people that are so very precious to us, but eventually it happens, and we have no choice but to accept it the best we can and go on. I lost my son, and it was very hard. I'm sorry your husband was sick and then you lost him. It may not seem like it, but your strength is an inspiration to me, since my husband has so many health problems. After 57 years of marriage, I'm afraid. My love goes out to you, and I continue to pray for you.

I truly appreciate all of your kind words. When I am just needing to acknowledge how I am feeling this has been a very supportive forum to send out my thoughts. Thank you all for responding to me.
