Debbie Cousins's Journal, 10 Mar 19

I was GOING to entitle this "Bag of Potatoes" or "5-lb Bag of Sugar" - but then I realized that a couple years ago they reduced the 5-pound bags to 4-pound bags.

I've lost FIVE POUNDS already this week in the Swimsuit Slimdown! I'm pretty sure this is the most I've EVER lost in just one week! I'm not fasting. Not starving myself. Over the past 9 days, my Caloric intake has been (in order least to highest):1,023, 1,181, 1,273, 1,309, 1,323, 1,509, 1,676 1,684, and one day when I went crazy at 2,368. Averaged out, it equals 1,352 per day. That’s a VAST improvement!

In February, I screwed up a lot, and didn’t even record for several days during the depressed period. For the last 9 days that I DID record (in a row) in February, though, the average was 1.807 (and 4 of those days were over 2,000 calories). NO WONDER I wasn’t losing!!!

I also wasn’t EXERCISING during that period. Now, walking briskly through grocery stores and doing knee PT exercises might not be what a lot of YOU consider to be exercise, but for ME, it’s major. PLUS, since I started taking the new Abilify, I have LOTS more energy, and have even been doing things around the house, like cooking, and keeping the kitchen clean, doing laundry (and even folding it and putting it away afterward), pulling clothes down from the attic and sorting them to give away!!!

As I said in a previous post, “IF FEELS SO GOOD TO FEEL SO GOOD!!!”

Have never thought of 5 lbs in terms of a bag of potatoes! If I can drop 5 I will need to remember this!

So happy for you! I’ve been recording everything since last September and I was considering stopping after my next doctor’s appointment, but your comments make me think I probably need to continue. Recording gives a clear picture of what you are doing right & what you are doing wrong! Keep up the good work!

@LowCarbFemmeFit, I wouldn't know 2kg if it came up and smacked me in the face! American, remember? Thank you, everyone, for sharing in my victory. My biggest problem NOW is that I want to be doing everything at ONCE!

One kilo is 2.2 lb..

@Debbie Cousins, took me a *long* time to memorize metric conversions! 1 kg = 2.2 lbs., 28 g = 1 oz.

Debbie Cousins— when I was in grade school (1950’s) we had to learn the metric system because there was a plan to retire the archaic, cumbersome system that we use for weights and measure. It just never happened. In the medical world everything is done by metrics. It is so user friendly it boggles my mind, I think that we are the only nation that doesn’t use it.

I was also in school beginning in 1959, but never - not in high school, not in college, ever even learned what a liter was! I learned from Diet Coke! I DO know 28g - 1 oz, though, because I eat a LOT of 1-oz servings of nuts! I actually looked up something metric yesterday morning - in church, but don't tell my husband (the pastor) because I was working on my Positive Affirmations for future weeks. One of them is "I am going to do a 5k run/walk! (Of course, I had to look up how far that was, I knew it was less than a marathon or half marathon. 6.something miles seems doable - once I START walking, that is!
