Debbie Cousins's Journal, 18 Jan 19

Did something today that I haven't done in AT LEAST 20 years! I JUMPED! I actually JUMPED on the trampoline with my grand daughter today! When I went out with my little grandson the other day, I just "bounced," afraid to actually JUMP! Today, I jumped ten times in a row, playing "Break the Egg" with Maebie. One person sits Indian-style on the trampoline, with arms crossed, and the other tries to jump hard enough to make them fall over. I jumped several other times, too, trying to see if we could make each other lift off the trampoline - lying on stomach, lying on side, etc. I'm sure I used some stomach muscles, just trying to keep my body STRAIGHT while Mae bounced me. My twin friends, Jeannie and Joannie, were QUITE impressed to see me jump! They've known me for 24 years and can't remember ever seeing that. I told them that, at the rate I'm going, they'll need to go with me to pick out a BIKINI for this summer at the pool! (For the viewing pleasure of any who read this, I did NOT have anyone take a picture of me jumping!)

Love my rebounder. It’s also supposed to help with the lymphatic system.

I have a small exercise trampoline and can jump and jog on it. It can be great fun. It lowers the impact on your joints it's the only way I should run or jump. I was told not to do high impact back in 1986 after major leg surgery. There is a titanium rod through my knee.

Did everyone know that JUMPING is the only exercise that actually builds bone density? (At least, that was what I was told on an exercise video several years ago.) Everyone's comments have given me the desire to go and and jump some MORE (before the rain comes about 3pm!) @anaserk, your comment TRULY made me laugh out loud!

Strength training also builds bone density. Lift weights. If jumping on a hard surface is what they were talking about it's really hard the joints for anyone with arthritis or any joint issues. Impact and strength training build up bone density.
