Steven Lloyd's Journal, 14 Dec 18

My favorite "gym"...

Dropped off on top of a mountain about 40kms NW of Revelstoke, BC, Canada. Getting ready to ski down steep chutes, open bowls and through lots of trees. Weather much different than my last journal post, though my biking in that post was targeted to prep me for this trip.

75k quality vertical feet skied over 3.5 days.

I read your response to Mom, dropped as in helicopter drop off?

Yes B, small, nimble, powerful heli (Astar 350 B2, if anyone cares), it caries pilot and guide in the front 2 seats and 4 skiers in the rear, skies and packs are loaded in a cage mounted on the right skid. Quick lift and can get into some real tight spots...a couple of landings were on pretty narrow ridges. We ski as a group of five with one helicopter easily looking after three groups. We load and unload in under a minute, lift time varies as to distance travelled, but usually from 2 minutes to 8 minutes is normal.

It is a "carrot" that motivates me to stay in shape John, keeps me from getting complacent too...no "faking it" out there.
