Hello all:
Well, sometimes food just hits the spot. Tonight I made salmon patties (3 net carbs and 140 cal each) made with pork rinds and topped with sriracha sauce. If you like fish/salmon , it is really worth the effort. There are many recipes and variations on the net but just choose one with pork rinds. They crush up real well in the blender.
Okay, here is my bread update. I received a loaf of ThinSlim rye bread today. Here is the good and bad. The good is that it looks like a bread and it has some chewiness to it (yahoo). The bad is that it tastes quite bland. I tried it with some butter and strawberry chia jam and it was better. Tomorrow, I will try to toast a piece with breakfast and that will be the ultimate test. And, it has 0 net carbs. I do like it better than the keto type Soul Bread and breads made from mozzarella cheese. And, I have another test coming tomorrow with Nature's Own sugar free bread - that looks real interesting. I think it has like 8 net carbs but I could handle that and I really want a sandwich or toast.
I'll have to take/share some pics - I keep forgetting

All: Well, I have to be honest. I think all of the keto type bread recipes taste pretty bad. Usually it is awful or spongy, eggy, cheesy, or cake-like but, nowhere near what bread actually tastes like.
A few years ago I tried Julian bakery but they weren't honest about the carbs and now they taste as bad as the other breads.
I have one bread recipe which I will call cake-bread and it is good if you want a slice and cover it with butter, jam or something sweet. It makes a decent dessert. It is called The Best Keto Bread Recipe on the Internet:

I have one more I want to try - it is where you add yeast and vital wheat gluten to the low carb bread recipe. Obviously, this wouldn't be any good for people avoiding gluten but for others it might be interesting. It has 5.4 net carbs and looks wonderful on the net but bloggers are getting better at taking great pictures of bad food :) See 2nd pic below. Here is the link if you want to try:

Lastly, I saw and will be ordering/buying a regular bread product called Natures Own Sugar Free Wheat Bread. It has 8 net carbs per slice - I can handle that. Just to be able to make a sammitch every once in awhile would be heavenly! See 1st pic below

What I had for dinner on Friday night - can't find the words to express how good this was. If you have a Ruth Chris in your town and want to splurge - go for it.

Staying the course of 1500 cal and 50 carb a day. I keep trying new recipes to keep my interest. I am back on the elusive good-tasting bread or bread-like recipe search. Today will be trying out pork rind bread and crepes - wish me luck.
