Losing weight decreases metabolism and increases appetite. OK so my take away was that exercise was important for maintaining. Successful maintainers (those are the few ones) ate about 2500 cals on average and exercised more than the average people.

It helped me with understanding frustration of seeing increased appetitie when dieting and knowing that exercise during dieting is helpful but will not make you lose weight. Glad to see more science in the nutrition field - there is so much junk out there

That is a good point. It is also why maintenance is hard. The body is working against us all the way. But yeah it helps to know that this is natural and not be too frustrated.
