Let's talk about rewards. I work hard to lose weight, walking/running every day and I never take a day off. If I don't walk every day I will gain weight. In February, I went to my doctor and my weight was down 34 lbs [from 222 to 188 lbs] and my blood sugar was normal so the doc took me off the diabetic pills. I bought a purse [tote bag] as a reward. In June, I bought a crossbody bag as a reward to celebrate getting out of the obese category into the overweight category at 163 lbs. I have two more goals left. 1) Get to my mini goal of 143 lbs. 2) Get to my goal weight of 136 lbs. I'm thinking about other rewards that I can look forward to giving myself. When you are working hard to lose weight, it is good to have something to look forward to instead of celebrating with food. When you reach a milestone, a mini goal or your goal weight, what will be your reward to yourself?

PS. Take your Speedo. You need to wear extremely clingy clothing for maximum accuracy. They will have a swimmer's skull cap for you.

Seems like a lot of baggage. Haha. Couldn't resist. For me the reward was some new clothes. Had to be. Didn't want to look like a clown. :)

My goal weight is 165 and I have gone from 251.6 to 223.6 in a little less than 2 months (I know the rate will slow down soon, buy hey, I am thankful for the initial encouragement of the quick weight loss). Following the Atkins diet is a good one for me. I have told myself that when I get to 200 I will have a "splurge" day...not too bad, but a couple things I have craved. A friend's potato salad, my mama's spaghetti, a slice of lemon ice box pie. I do not plan to go overboard and eat huge helpings, just a cup of each. Then the very next day, right back to it. My "REWARD" to myself is a treadmill for the upcoming winter months. I do not want to use the weather as an excuse to not get out and move. Started walking 1 mile every other day. I am now walking 3 miles 2 days a week, and walking UPHILL on a friend's treadmill for 15 minutes 2 days a week. Any thing beyond that is extra. Those short, but tough, 15 minute uphill walks seem to trigger weight loss more than the brisk 3 mile level walking. But I think the perfect reward is finding my own treadmill so I can have no excuses for a 15 minute round of exercise. With a goal weight of 165, I plan on getting down to 160 so I can have a little wiggle room...emphasis on little! Thanks for bringing up the subject of rewards. Gets my mind focused on the positive. Good luck everyone. We can do it, yes we can!

Massage is a great reward especially if you work out frequently. Our muscles need it.

Just the feeling of accomplishment is enough for me. When I go down a clothing size though, I always buy new clothes in my new size :) So I guess my mini goals are each smaller size. But it's hard to guess how much I will weigh when I get to that size. I just keep plugging away at it until I get there. Being healthy is my goal, so I will be healthy regardless of what I weigh or what size I am.

My goal weight is 150. Unfortunately I still have 100 lbs. to go but, it is far better than the recorded 324 I started out at. What I do for a reward when I hit the short term goals is a mini spa treatment. It is usually a brow wax and a facial but so nice to have done occasionally.

If you look up Bod Pod on youtube you can find some very good videos. Everything is inside it. The inject air and read how much air you displace vs a calibration test with a cylinder. I doubt insurance will cover it, and depending on where you are it may vary, but I am near a college with a good sports medicine department and they allow the public to be tested so the students learn how to do the test. I will post by noon Friday how it went. 9:30am appointment, it takes 10 minutes or less, and I live 5 minutes from the college.

I'd like to get myself a better bike when I reach a goal...haven't decided what goal. My biggest goal is to take a trip to the grand canyon and ride a donkey to the bottom. The rules say you have to be 200 LB or less full clothed #longwaytogo http://loosing100torideadonkey.blogspot.com/

I plan to buy a refurbished desktop computer if I stick with my exercise program until summer ends. For the next five pound loss, I want to get a C Crane CC Pocket AM FM and NOAA Weather Radio with Clock and Sleep Time. For ten pounds, a Wii Mini.

I'm planning on a new pair of boots when I hit my next mini-goal (150). My "big reward" for meeting my final goal weight (120-125) is to have my "girls" surgically shrunk. Yes, I've been wanting a breast reduction for a long time but have put it off because I wanted to lose the weight first. It's finally looking like it could be a reality now & that's a huge motivator for me.

You know, Deb, a lot of people find joy in giving. If that is a given, and most people would agree that it is, I have an idea for a reward. The next time you reach an intermediate goal, make a visit to your nearest Guitar Center, and buy me a new guitar!! (I prefer Paul Reed Smith Custom 24, but a nice sunburst Les Paul will do.) I just KNOW it would make you feel great about reaching that goal!!

LOL, I did not see that coming, Eddie! When you said people find joy in giving, I actually thought about writing some checks to my favorite charities, and then you said the word guitar. You are funny. ;)

So how long do I have to suck up to you to become one of your favorite charities? Not that I really need another guitar.... I have 7 and I don't even play anymore. But the guy who dies with the most toys dies, right? AND... I did my ALS ice water challenge tonight. Now to see how many of the three guys I called out do it.
