Well, I don't have a good experience with IF... but lot's of people here do. In fact, so many here practice OMAD. I'm interested to read testimonies about individual experiences. Weight loss? Maintenance? Fluctuations? My attempt was for hmm 5-6 weeks or so. Maybe I didn't give it enough time (I always try to give benefit of doubt) BUT it seemed to screw with my metabolism. It was harder for me to lose. It was as if my body wanted to hang on to every calorie and fat morsel because it didn't know when my next meal was. That being said, my WOE is 5-6 small balanced meals per day. Protein + carb and for snacks protein + fruit. Veggies are always included, but most of the veggies I eat are green and low cal. I've been losing steady for a long time now.

I tried it once for a couple days and had a couple really bad binge eating moments. I have difficulty controlling my impulses when it comes to food. Fasting triggered it. But I wonder if I go into it with a different attitude and/or technique...maybe it could be good for me.

I like IF. I think I have been doing it for over a year now. I usually eat in a 4 to 6 hour window but some times it is OMAD. It works well for me as I tend to have issues with grazing and this rigidity has limited it. Most of this time I have done keto where we try to limit insulin so IF and Keto are very compilmentary of each other. I skip breakfast and usually end eating by 6. Any negative sides... not sure... maybe I get used to eating very big meals but not sure yet if that is a negative or how much it is

I enjoy it but because I lift in the mornings, I don't think it's a good idea to go hours without protein /carbs so I don't do it anymore. But when I did, it was very easy for me to not eat until about 1 p.m. And really kept my calories in check easily.

I prefer to eat clean and watch CICO, and exercise.

I wrote about this today... OMAD is a form of intermittent fasting. Short for one meal a day. I wrote long comment responding to Bella’s question on today’s post on calories: it comes down to do it if it helps keep you on track and you’re happy on it. 👍 Don’t do it if it makes you O-so-MAD❣️ 😡 😡 😡 for fat loss, the only thing that’s important is making sure you burn more calories than you eat.

CICO is calories in calories out, what you eat vs what you burn. If you eat more than you burn you gain. If you eat the same as you burn you maintain, if you eat less than you burn you lose fat.

I don't consider it one or the other. I'm trying to just 'eat when hungry' and skip it when not.

FullaBella...I'm always ready to eat. I have huge cravings like a sumo wrestler! Someone told me once that I eat like a man that was just released from prison! LOL I died!! LOL

Moopie...If I decide to give IF a try, I will still make sure I stay under my caloric goal. Keeping within a caloric deficit. And thank you for explaining the terms. LOL I'm thinking maybe a 16 hour fast. Starting at night until lunch the next day....

Oh, I know. I have days where I eat like I'm on death row too. I'm just saying.. if I've not eaten for several hours (( and yeah, it happens )) I just label it 'that' instead of a 'fast'.

I am all for IF. I read Satchin Panda’s The Circadian Code and Valter Longo’s The Longevity Diet, and I am convinced of its benefits.

I've just started doing cardio fasting. I was a challenge at first but now I like it. Just gotta make sure I eat a big protein based meal afterwards.

I have nothing bad to say about intermittent fasting. I have practiced a form it myself. To my mind eating OMAD or eating within a certain limited number of hours daily is intermittent fasting. Going without food for more than 24 hours is plain old fashion fasting. Intermittent fasting is another way to restrict calories. That's why it works. I prefer spread my nutrition throughout the day...

I really like it and that is what always starts my weight loss. For me it takes planning. I need to have a well balanced dinner with enough calories. Personally I wouldn't eat a dessert at that time. For me it's not easy to just cut out nightly snacks. When I start it is a process and if I am really hungry I eat fruits and raw vegetables. When you think about it if a person was to eat a 500 calorie snack every evening and was able to cut it to 200 or even 300 they would lose weight. When I don't eat in the evening I am not hungry until 12 or 1 the next day and I have tons of energy in the morning.
