I quit smoking almost 4 years ago, cold turkey, no relapses. A few weeks ago, in the midst of a plateau, I decided to try vaping. Now I am losing again, but at what cost? I haven't told my friends or family ... just you guys. I am a little concerned about how it elevates my heart rate. I'm open to any thoughts / criticisms. Don't pull any punches.

I believe the vaping has nicotine and is addictive too. Also, you are hiding the vaping from your loved ones. You do the math.

I would suggest quitting as soon as possible, but that is completely up to you. An elevated heart rate is nothing to mess with.

Having quit smoking, why did you start vaping? It is still something that isn't good for your body. Of course, we all have some area of weakness - at least I know IIII DO! If you "have to" have a vice, it could be worse than vaping. It seems as though YOU think it is wrong, or you wouldn't be hiding it from your family. That's MY version of the honest thoughts you requested. Listen to your heart and your conscience and see what you're telling YOURSELF.

I quit cigs and use a vape pen, lowest nicotine available. I will quit that too, eventually. Good luck on whatever you decide. Congrats on not picking up a cig!

I guess I haven't told anyone (I live alone) because I still think of it as a vice. I did it to aid in my weight loss.

seems to me that you weigh the risk versus benefit. true, vaping isn't great for you. waaay better than smoking though. smoking us a huge monkey on your back. it isn't illegal or immoral so there is always that wee little voice in the back of your head whispering "it is not like I'm drinking and driving or snorting cocaine or something ". meaning, smoking is a life long temptation. stress makes it harder to resist giving in to temptation. if vaping is helpful during a stressful time, I think it's a useful crutch. promise yourself an end to the crunch and stick to it. we all need a crutch at times to get us through some darkness.

You already know the answer to this. Read the literature.

You are an adult and I am imperfect, so you won't get any advice from me. However you are aware that those things explode periodically aren't you?

What were you thinking...... after 4 years quit? Back to a crutch, a hand to mouth habit. Why, oh whyyyyyyyyy??? I am recently 6 months quit and loving the new me. Eating better now too... trying to apologize to my body for the years of abuse. The verdict is still out on vaping and its hazards, but if you want to be a statistic.... You feel ashamed and guilty, and your health is suffering already. You really didn't need anyone to respond.

that stuff is really really bad for your lungs you should try to get off of it again. Better to weigh a little more than to ruin your breathing
