Caramelized Onion Pork Chops

Caramelized onions give flavor to these easy to make pork chops.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Rub chops with 2 teaspoons seasoning salt and 1 teaspoon pepper, or to taste.
  2. In a skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Brown pork chops on each side.
  3. Slice the onions into strips. Add the onions and water to the pan. Cover and reduce heat, and simmer for 20 minutes.
  4. Turn chops over, and add remaining salt and pepper.
  5. Cover, and cook until water evaporates and onions turn light to medium brown.
  6. Remove chops from pan, and serve with onions on top.

If you would pound your chops, they would be tender.

I was extremely disappointed with this recipe. After reading a majority of good reviews i had high hopes. it was FLAVORLESS!! the chops were dry, and everything just tasted boiled. caramelized? no. boiled onions and chops.

I used bone-in pork chops and they remained very moist. I used a different seasoning (Adobe Seasoning Mix) instead of just the salt and pepper and also added a couple of Thai chilies in the water to add a hint of spice. These were the best chops I remember having. It took a while for the water to evaporate but it's worth waiting for that to happen.

Chops tend to dry out real easy I would opt for a Chicken Thighs

My pork chops were just right, the water never fully evaporated but the flavor was great. I also used evoo instead of veg oil, and I always use a lot of onion.

Great flavor and very tender. They came out great and the whole family loved them over my previously extra dry chops.

Delicious. I added 1/2 a large vidalia to the one regular onion. I also simmered the chops uncovered so the reducing of the liquid happened faster.

My pork chops were a little tough and the water never evaporated but the flavoring was great. I also used evoo instead of veg oil.

The flavor was very good. I would add extra onion next time. The onion cooked down to nothing by the time the water evaporated. But very good otherwise
