Kppgreen's Journal, 23 Jun 16

Yesterday I had my BP coffee and stock. I knew I would have a gain, and I'm pleased it is as small as it is (last time it was over 4 lbs). I'm trying to slowly move myself into eating 'normally'.

I had a Greek Salad for lunch at the staff pot luck today. I think everyone is getting used to me eating the way I do. I will have stock this evening to help with my transition back to food. I think I will introduce eggs tomorrow and bring meat to the table on Saturday. :)Honestly, I'm a little afraid to eat.

You are doing great, Kpp! Would love for you to post your feelings/results from your weekly carb nights. Are you seeing a drop a few days later? I feel like i've pretty much stalled.... and considering it for the last few pounds.

Laura, I feel like it's still too soon for me to tell. I'm still figuring out how to do the carb nite effectively. I'm anticipating the carb nite solution book in the mail and I think that will give me a better idea of what to do. I first over did it on the carbs and ate carbs all afternoon. Well, I was listen to a pod cast earlier this week that said to only do it in the evening. I read that women may struggle more with fat during the carb nite and they may want to focus more on the bready foods. Regardless, I'm still trying to figure it out so I'm hesitant to report or give any advice at this time. Generally, I'm losing pretty well because I'm keeping my kcal so low. Not sure how much the carb nite is helping the weight loss, besides keeping me sane the rest of the time. I just had a big drop due to my monthly 72 hr water fast. I'm looking forward to my next carb nite this coming up Sunday. I'm going to try it a little differently this time.

Thanks Kpp.... will look forward to hearing about your progress/thoughts on it in the months to come. I am kind of afraid to try, not sure that I could truly keep it to one night a week if I started indulging in those forbidden, carby items. Mahjohn had some good words a while back about the carb night differences for men and women. I'll have to look back and see if I can find them....

Kpp, I hope you will post how all your different variations of carb night work. I think we learn as much (if not more) from failures as we do from successes.

Kiefer's book is a good read and gives some good answers. The carb night is really an afternoon and evening.... Never all day. There is a gain, typically 2-3 lbs from glucose and water. It's not fat, it can't be fat. Your liver glycogen is depleted on a LCHF diet and any incoming sugars restock this first. Over the next 2-3 days back on plan you use the stored glucose and shed the water. If you gain 5lbs, then you ate a bit too much.... No big deal, just dial it back next time around. It provides a way to lose weight, maintain your sanity, provide a long term way of eating where nothing is off the table, and really piss people off when they see you with two Donuts (me) and say "aren't you on a diet?".
