Fritzy 22's Journal, 07 Jan 24

Lost 2 pounds in the first week of the year. Happy about that, but still just over half a pound to reach my interim weight goal. I was this close a month ago but just couldn't lose that little bit.

Had hot chocolate again this morning. Have to play around with carbs for the rest of the day to stay under 100 grams. I have been waking up every morning for a week or so with a burning feeling in my stomach. Hot chocolate soothes it, while coffee irritates it. It's been really cold in the house when I wake up another reason I want cocoa. This morning it was 51 inside ANF for the first time this winter the water in the bird bath was frozen.

Salad again with chicken breast for my last meal around 1pm.

Happy morning Fritzy. Hot chocolate sounds like the thing. It is getting colder and snowing here this morning. I think I need some as well.

I love cocoa. Cannot handle coffee at all. Love salad and chicken breasts too. I hope you don't have an ulcer. Good job on the weight loss!

Thanks Morticia! It's actually not my stomach, it's lower. I never or rarely have actual stomach problems. I remember years ago telling my doctor I was having stomach issues and shows him where the discomfort was and he told me "that's not your stomach". He told me to avoid vegetables until it cleared up. I really don't eat many vegetables and know I should eat more. I've been reviewing changes I've made to my diet and the biggest thing is the Asian chicken salad I've had 4 or 5 times in the past werk. Maybe it's the salad dressing, maybe won ton strips or canned mandarin oranges which are all pretty new to me. No bathroom related issues. I think I will avoid the salad for awhile and see if it clears ul. I've been having dry toast ,just a half slice most days because it seems to help

Do you mind me asking how you stop eating at 1:00? Do you go to bed super early? I know I would feel so much better if I knocked out the nighttime eating, but I can’t seem to help myself. Are you starving but just don’t eat? Or does it not bother you so much? I’d love to hear how you are able to do it. Thanks! Always enjoy your posts.

Thanks Broccolibabe! I do often go to bed early and I wake up early. I usually get up by 5am and intermittent fasting with my 8 hour time to eat between 5-6am to 1-2pm. I don't like to go to sleep on a full stomach. Even before I retired I would have my biggest meal for lunch and a really light dinner, often a bowl of cereal or tea and toast. I don't feel all that hungry at night and if I do often a hot drink will help.

I am going to try and stop eating by 3:00 each day and see if I can make it! I’ll drink some decaf tea if I feel like I’m going to eat something. Thanks!

Broccolibabe, what do you do now? Are you doing IF? If stopping at 3 is a big change, maybe stop an hour earlier each day until you get there. If I didn't get up so early I would probably start eating at 7 and end at 3

Thanks Novariche, I think most people doing IF do something noon until 8pm. I'm just an early morning person so I am hungry when I wake up

Good for you💜 I'm craving hot chocolate but I like it at night. I just can't afford the carbs right now. I'm carb cycling today. I am being really strict. Went out and got a bunch of veggies. Let's see what scale says tomorrow..Have a good night Fritzy🩷🩷

Hi Fritzy. I generally get up at around 7:00 and try not to eat until noon. Then I try to stop eating by 8:00. But I have been getting hungry (or bored?or anxious?) later in the evening and have been eating whatever I can find before bed, which makes me feel awful about myself and definitely affects my quality of sleep. It’s a bad routine that I need to break out of. So I am going to try shifting to eating breakfast and not eat anything in the evening, because once I start eating, I keep eating. Novariche, I’m thinking that I will try a 9-5 window of eating and see how that goes. Thanks for the suggestions from both of you!

Good luck Broccolibabe! FYI, I fell asleep around 7:30 last night, slept soundly without waking (very unusual) until 2:30am. Tried to go back to sleep, maybe dozed on and off for about an hour. But I've been awake since 4am. I'm retired so can do things like that.

Thanks Diana! I had hot chocolate again this morning but cut the marshmallows by half. I think all the raw veggies have upset my "lower stomach area" so I am avoiding them for a few days. Feel much better today after eating saltines all day yesterday. I think I do better with cooked vegetables, I can usually handle them well.

Wow, Fritzy! I haven’t had 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep in years! Enjoy retirement! I have a few more years to go.

Broccolibabe, I never sleep like that! I have chronic insomnia. I think it was a new prescription I only need to take "as needed" that made me drowsy.

Me, too! I need some of that! Lol
