Fritzy 22's Journal, 04 Jan 24

I've been so close to my interim goal of 178 for so long! Just can't get there so I can set the next goal.

I have an appointment for an MRI next Wednesday ordered by my primary care doctor. Have an appointment with the orthopedist on the 19th and I need to go get an X-Ray ordered by the orthopedist. Now my knee seems almost normal. I may cancel the MRI and see what the orthopedist says first. I called their office twice yesterday and was told I'm dealing with 2 different providers and once I go with the specialist he usually decides what needs to be done. It's strange, I've been dealing with the knee issue for over 2 months, had to limp the first 2 weeks when my knee couldn't support my weight, got throbbing knee pain at times as well as what appeared to be fluid on the knee. Night before last I had pain, but not throbbing pain but still enough to take the magic pill, Ibuprofen. Today I feel fine so far. I am going to take Bobby for a walk and see how I feel after that. I have to remind myself that my primary care doctor told me the knee problem would probably get better after 5 or 6 weeks, which is right now.

I've been wanting hot chocolate, made with fat free milk, Ghirardelli hot mocha mix and miniature marshmallows. After that I will see what I can have to stay under 100 grams of carb. Probably chicken and a salad mix.

That is a nice loss. At least wait a bit before cancelling... You will want all possible answers here. It cannot hurt

I injured my arm/ shoulder a year ago. I had pain in both, I believe, an injured tendon. I saw the orthopedist & got exrays. He sent me for physical therapy. I did about 10 sessions with her. It got better but still had lingering pain. I incorporated some of the exercises into my routine at the Gym. At some point, the pain just seemed to be gone. Later, I had pain in my hip area. I looked up exercises for that & did them. Eventually, that got better, too. Long story short, unless you have an actual injury that can be fixed, you might have to let it play itself out. That being said, I'd see the orthopedist & rule out everything to be sure there isn't anything that can be done to help.

Thanks Liv and Sherry. I took Bobby for a walk for the first time in a few weeks. When I would walk previously the pain would start before I got to the corner of my street. Today we were able to walk much further and up a slight incline before I turned around. Felt fine until I was about 4 houses away from my house. Just some aching. Nothing bad so far. I will keep walking until Monday and then I might reschedule the MRI under after I see the orthopedist. Still want to see him. I was surprised my doctor didn't send me to physical therapy when I first saw him about the knee

I’m glad to hear the knee is doing better. It is probably good to check it out still in case it’s going to be a recurring problem. I hope not.

Personally I would keep the appointments and make sure nothing is wrong. Many ortho problems come and go.

Thanks Moko! My knee did start hurting around 1pm,bad enough to take ibuprofen which works like magic for my knee! I am still debating favour the extra X-Ray and MRI, ordered by different doctors.

Thanks Sugarplu! I enjoyed the hot chocolate this morning and am probably going to have it again tomorrow. It's what I drank for about 15 years after giving up coffee, not always with marshmallows, but often enough! Just started drinking coffee again about 2 years ago

Hope your knee issues get resolved ! Such a pain (literally) I definitely think you need to keep appointment with ortho!

Thanks Diana. I am thinking I'll keep the MRI appointment even though it sounds scary. 45 minutes in a noisy tube, even though it's just the knee that will be viewed or imaged. But it isn't easy to get a doctor to order one. But after about 9 weeks I think my doctor was getting tired of my whining.
