Fritzy 22's Journal, 03 Jan 24

I guess I did too much on Monday and Tuesday because the knee pain started up again. Not the bad throbbing knee pain but enough that I couldn't sleep and took 800mg Ibuprofen at 1am. But I can't rest all the time! This morning I went to the feed store and grocery store. Up and down the garage steps at least a half dozen times bringing in sunflower seeds and peanuts for the birds and squirrels. And groceries.

Called my doctor's office to ask about the referral to an orthopedist. They checked and said it had been accepted on 12-26 and they could transfer me so I could set up an appointment. I also asked if my own primary care doctor would order an MRI so I don't have to keep waiting to find out what happened to my knee and what I need to do about it. They sent a message to him and told me his office will call me. From experience I know not to expect a call until tomorrow. I doubt my doctor will look at my message until the end of the dsy. Called the orthopedist office and got a recording saying to leave a message and they will return my call in the next 24-48 hours. I bet no one is even in the office. Small rural health system, but at least we have some doctors and a hospital. So more waiting.

Had oatmeal again. It is really filling but with the oatmeal and banana I use up more than half my allowed carbs for the day. So no glass of milk. Well the grocery store didn't have any non fat milk today. I asked them why if milk was delivered yesterday. They said they don't always get everything they order and to try again on Friday. Again, small town stuff. The feed store didn't have sunflower chips or the bags of peanuts so I bought bulk peanuts. Well the squirrels are happy

I have an appointment already for the 19th with the orthopedist. Was told to go to the hospital anytime for the X-Ray they ordered. I told them I already had an X-Ray done and they said the doctor has very specific angles done. I called Medicare to see if they will cover both X-Rays and was told yes. I called the orthopedist office back to see if they have verified what they ordered isn't the same as what was already done. The day is flying by because I'm making so many calls. I also called my prescription drug insurance company to verify my premium is really going from $8.30 a month to just 40 cents! Yes!

Same here. Very rural area and we often have to sub for what we need and want.

At least you finally got the referral. We get those recordings here too. Most Drs don't call you back for 48 hours ..and then it's usually the nurse, not the Dr... I had oatmeal today too. Mine had cinnamon and dried cherries as well as a few walnut pieces. Yum.

Diana,I had oatmeal too and forgot the cinnamon! Tomorrow I want hot chocolate with miniature marshmallows! I've already logged it and will just have very few carbs the rest of the day. Did you read my extra comments? I have an appointment with the orthopedist on the 19th and he wants me to go get more X-Rays before the appointment. I may go tomorrow. And my primary care doctor's office called and said he ordered the MRI for me. So I take back everything I said originally!

Thanks Morticia the grocery has not had fat free milk several times after the delivery. Most of the shortages are since the pandemic

So glad your PCP is able to do the MRI! I pray you get some answers! Nice of you to take care of the critters 🐿️ during winter 🥶 months!

Thanks StormsGirl. I am not sure if I should have asked my PCP to order the MRI since he had referred me to a specialist. I was just getting so tired of waiting and then everything came through today. The MRI is scheduled for next Wednesday. I feed birds and squirrels year round. Something I think the squirrels will knock on my sliding door when there is nothing out for them.

Fritzy, I have found certain products are not available since Covid as well. I have access to larger grocery stores fairly close. They may have something similar in stock, but there have been times there was no fat-free Greek yogurt or the brand I prefer. We do usually have all types of milk. You may see more things unavailable since your store is small & they may order specific brands. In the larger chains they often carry several brands.

Thanks Sherry, I thought about going in to the next town, which is much larger for milk, I've done it before. But it didn't matter enough to make the 30 minute drive on a rainy day. When I go for my X-Ray, in the same town as the grocery store, I may stop at Raley's. They a!ways have milk. But I am considering cancelling the 2nd X-Ray and even the MRI since my knee is fine right now. Didn't even need to take Ibuprofen last night
