Hipaagrammy's Journal, 20 Feb 15

Just 1/2 pound away from losing my first 50 pounds! Just 2 3/4 pounds away from one-derland, and best of all just 5 pounds away from weighing less than my husband!!! It's been at least 20 years since I could say that.

My lifestyle change is doing exactly what I hoped...the healthier eating has brought about the loss of an average of 1-2 pounds per week and my increased exercise is helping me to feel so much stronger!

I bought a new cookbook at Sam's Club called "Dashing Dish" by Katie Farrell, with 100 recipes for clean eating. She also has a website and facebook page by the same name. I'm really enjoying all the recipes I've tried. I'm making homemade protein bars to freeze and then take on our vacation in couple of weeks. So far, I've liked everything I've tried.

Have a wonderful weekend!

awesome! what are you doing as far as your meal plan, if you have one. What do you do for exercise?

Wow! Thank you, everyone, for your support!! This site has been so supportive throughout the process. Catlyn Jacobs, you asked the questions I love to answer! I started with baby steps like giving up soda, late night snacking, and making sure to eat breakfast every day. When I had mastered that, I started reducing processed foods, introducing new healthy foods (like fish and yogurt which had never been a part of my food choices in the past) and trying to make sure my protein and complex carbs were somewhat balanced. Basically, I'm trying to make changes I can incorporate into my lifestyle for the long haul. I have lost and gained weight throughout the years using short term diets and I didn't want to do that again. This new way of eating feels like it will work for the rest of my life. As far as exercise goes, I started with an old exercise bike I had in the basement and after an extended vacation where I used hotel gym ellipticals, I purchased one for my home. I also live on 9 acres of hilly go-cart trails that I can walk (when the grandkids aren't using it for go-carts). Thanks so much for your question. It has helped me remember how far I've come and confirm how much I want to continue this lifestyle in the future.

Grammy, you are just doing amazing! I do believe the baby steps work and changing your eating and exercise part of your lifestyle is the way to be successful. You are working your plan so it fits into your life.
