erikahollister's Journal, 12 Mar 22

I've been fasting since the 1st of March, with a 24 hour break last Sunday.
I'm going to do the same tonight, 24 hours to refeed. My plan is to keep this schedule through Lent, so until April 15th. This week was easier than last week with little hunger and lots of energy. I'm in the groove and it's tempting not to mess it up with a refeed, but I think if I'm going to make it for the full Lenten period, I need some solid nutrition. It's amazing to me that our bodies can function so well without eating. All that fat storage is there to be used, and by golly that's what happens when we don't eat. I'm so grateful to have discovered fasting, and figured out how to work with it.
Blessings on you all!

You continue to amaze us with your determination! Your chart looks great.

Rhontique, with every fast I only retain about half the initial loss. So, I lose about a pound a day, but only retain a half pound loss. So the chart is a roller coaster, but each fast takes me to another level down. Then I work on stabilizing there before the next longer fast. It seems to be working. It's keeping me from drifting back to higher setpoints. In other words, through fasting I'm able to lower my setpoint. Which is a handy breakthrough for me.

Great progress! When you are refeeding tomorrow, be sure to make healthy, nutrient-rich choices. I applaud your discipline.

Erika, I lost all my weight by fasting. Plus, I only fasted 18 hours a day. That little window I ate what I wanted. It was never too many calories, because my stomach shrank, and was full right away, plus I really enjoyed my food.👍😋 Please drink lots of water and don’t overdo the fasting or your system will get screwed up. I’m starting again on Monday. On Thanksgiving I stopped doing that and was giving myself a break and I haven’t gotten back on track yet, brother! This Monday I start again!!! Make sure you’re taking your vitamins and drinking plenty of water!!💕🌺

Erika, amen and amen. I too adopted fasting for Lent. For me it's been all day Friday through Saturday afternoon while following a program of scripture reading, prayer and worship. God is good. And, I too have notice the needle going down and that has spurred me on to be more disciplined with my WOE throughout the week. As I've been doing this, I've thought of Shrew a few times, remembering, as she just reiterated, that she lost all her weight by fasting. I does work.

Wishing you the best with fasting. I haven't tried it but have been curious about it since I see so many posts about it on FS. Thanks for explaining it a bit more Erika.
