I find a lot of inspiration watching YouTube videos on weight loss. Maybe that would help you too.

I often use my 🖐 as a visual aid for my portions...for instance I have a piece of meat/poultry the size of the palm of my hand or less ✋ but salads or veggies can be the size of my whole hand. The end of my thumb is my estimate for a tablespoon 👍
But to tell you the truth...I use measuring cups and measuring spoons or my food scale every single day to keep track of what's going in my face. And I write down every bite...it's tedious and boring some days...but I found a logging sheet that I like and I use the Fat Secret food diary too. You will find a way that works for you too. Try doing a Google search for printable food diaries/logging sheets. See if that helps keep you on track.
Most of all...welcome back! You can definitely do this! The folks here have so much knowledge and experience to share. Best of luck as you get back on track!🚂👍

Yes, its a struggle, exactly the same. I feel deprived if I can only have 2 slices of roast chicken and 4 roast potatoes. These foods never are the same as when straight out of the oven!

I strictly use a food scale. No guesswork required

I've wanted to comment before but didn't want it to come across the wrong way. Writing on here or text in general leaves a gray area of "are they trying to help me" or it could come off as bashing someone. Anyways from looking at several of your pics. Portion control seems to be a glaring issue. The next and just as important part is what you're actually eating. Just my 2 cents but look for more meals with higher protein [keep you full longer] then you don't have to eat so much. Nothing about this is easy. But if you can stack a couple good days it does get easier as you go. Good luck to you! I'm sure there will be a lot of good advice given.

Eat a lot of protein and it will kill your appetite to eat other stuff.

hi, you can do this.yes all your meals lol
like
look like you are feeding a family of 3? three hamburgers should be One. two burritos should be One. three corn dogs with mac and cheese, should be zero, they have no nutrition. I can't tell how many tacos are on that plate but 2 would be better. hmm. did you use to eat this much? we get use to these huge servings and then it's so hard to cut back. I'm guilty too. glad your back. one day at a time. When your in the store, look at the single serving meals like Atkins or what ever. you can observe what a serving size might be. 💛

Thank you for being honest. Just keep your faith. It will get better. You just have to make it mind over matter! I had an issue with portion control too but I can honestly tell you when I do the perfect plate with the perfect portions I really be full & I sometimes find myself unable to eat everything on my plate sometimes!

You have taken a major step by recognizing that your portions are too big and that logging and self-accountability are important. We are here to support you. Prayers and best wishes for you to have more success in reclaiming your health.

You can do this! I’ve found intermittent fasting helps shrink the stomach so I feel full sooner. Also try to slow down. I eat too fast and don’t register full soon enough.

4 oz meat is the size of a deck of cards. I try to stick within that for any meal

Everyone has really good suggestions… since I’ve been (trying) to manage my weight upping my water intake has been the best single one thing I’ve done… I try for a gallon/day most of the time I usually don’t hit it but just in general chugging water helps a ton to help hunger… especially before meals chug like 30oz of water (not ice cold) goes down way easier if it’s a tad warm

Mighty makes a great point. Since I've started with a gallon or more of water a day. It has helped keep me full longer. Along with all of the other healthy benefits of drinking water.

I agree with Joe and Jen…too much of the absolute wrong foods. I have been attacked for bringing this up to other users…I won’t stop though. Start by ditching the soda, I don’t care if it’s sugar free or not. Drink water. Ditch the white bread and buy 100% whole wheat. Use half the amount of butter that you normally use. Just a few tips that I believe will help. But you DO have to be in a calorie deficit and you DO have to be active. Go for a walk, at least half an hour. If you’re sore the next day that’s a sign you don’t move enough. Keep walking half an hour every day until you’re not sore in the morning then go 45 minutes. Keep track of every bite of food you take. Good luck to you.
