Food Poisoning Update: I called my doctor late yesterday after no relief for 24 hours and he called in 3 Rxs for me - an anti-fungal (?) an anti-diarrhea and something else for the bloating. After only 12 hours, I'm already 50% better.

I told my hubby (who never takes a pill for anything), "See? Better living through chemistry!" I know there are a lot of people who don't believe in taking medicine. I'm not one of them. I sucked it for 24 hours without drugs and then overnight, I'm on the mend. I now have the bowels of newborn infant which is to say, they are squeaky clean and empty. Just saved $75 not getting that high colonic we were all talking about a few weeks back. Funny how things work out. Boy, I learned not to put something out into the Universe unless you REALLY want it: "Gee, I wish I had squeaky clean bowels!" said Mrs. Mole. "Oh really?" said The Universe? "Here you go!" And the next thing you know, Dom's groaning like a beached whale and swearing to never again eat eggs that she doesn't prepare herself.

You won't be hearing me complain about the prunes not working for quite a while. A downside is that one would think that I might have lost a little weight after suffering this intestinal humiliation, but it would appear that I'm where I was before I got sick except now I'm empty. This will be akin to coming off a cleanse or a liquid diet as far as that bump of 2-3 pounds when you start "eating normally" again.

It's baffling how this incident of being ill and not eating could cause my weight to be flat, but I can't worry about it - it is what it is. It has to be that I'm still a little sick and bloated (and no, it's not "that time").

Regardless, it's good to start feeling almost like my old self. I'm going to take it easy to avoid a relapse and than you to all the well-wishers, and especially those who flatter me about my writing. It's nice to hear that I make you laugh, even while facing down evil alien scrambled eggs!

You may be getting calories from me vicariously from what? 2000 miles away? Glad you're starting to feel better. I too am a believe in better living through chemistry... when warranted. I am a firm believer that men should be allowed any drugs their wives turn down in the delivery room. That's really rough on us guys.

Did you know that coconut oil will do the same thing? It's anti-bacterial, antibiotic, anti-parasitic, and a whole host of other thing!

I have some suggestions about regularity, because I have had similar issues most of my life. Now I have a handle on it just fine. Here are some suggestions and recommendations: 1) drink a lot more water. Most of my problems were due to my being under hydrated. You may need to drink a lot of water in the beginning to bring yourself to "ground zero." A doctor friend once observed that if you are already a wilted plant, giving yourself a daily water dose would not be enough, it would just bring you back from the wilting. I had a kidney stone once, so I'm very careful to drink enough water now. If you have trouble with the taste, then use crystal light. Or make herbal iced tea. We used to make "moon tea" in our fridge at night. Throw in a bunch of tea bags in the tea pitcher in the fridge, and voila! Tea in the morning. With the cold weather, I drink lots of herbal tea. 2) eat more jalapeños. I actually put slices in with my breakfast eggs. I find that these hardly-any-calorie items really keep my system cleaned out and provide a lot of vitamin C as well. 3) buy some wheat bran or flax seeds (good for omegas too) in bulk and sprinkle a bit of it on things, like sauces and meals. It's tasteless as far as I'm concerned, and it really helps. Anything with seeds is helpful, such as kiwi fruit. Or benefiber. A little sprinkle goes a long way. I haven't really needed these last things here since I have been more conscientious about my water. Keep in mind that you will produce less output when you don't have as much input. I've noticed that my regular contribution to the world's compost has shrunken some since I've been regular about my diet regime.
