newgrl's Journal, 29 Jul 19

My two-week weigh-in date should have been on Monday, but I spent all day on Sunday in the yard, sweating my behind off doing a ton of yard work. I trimmed some tree limbs, ran the weedeater, pulled weeds (by hand) from the fence line. I worked out in the 92+ degree (F.... that's 33+ degrees in non-freedom units) heat. Then, on the Monday morning weigh-in, my weight dropped kind of significantly, so I figured it was mostly water that I had lost. Two days later, here we are, and I'm still hanging onto my low (ish.. for me anyway...) weight. So I thought I would put it up now.

I'm 11 days out from my first year of being on this diet. I guess I'm convinced. The secret to losing weight:

1. Eat less
2. Move more
3. Meticulously track your food. If it goes in your mouth, it goes on the list.
4. Be Patient!

They never tell you that last one. You're not going to lose 100 lbs in 3 days. It's going to take a while. So be patient and find a diet you can live on and stick with for a while.

Anyway... happy summer everyone! For the first time in 10 years, I don't think I have any (like ANY y'all..) doctor's appointments in August. Is that possible? Surely I've missed something...

@Secret Slimmer - I'm just a calorie counter. I have a bunch of medical issues (new transplanted kidney, neuropathy, etc), so a balanced diet (rather than keto, paleo, mediterranean, etc...) are best for me. I started pretty slow, as I knew I had to lose a ton of weight. At first, I just dropped my calories to the 1800 a day range (counting every single crumb that went into my mouth.) That worked for a long time, but now that I've lost over a hundred pounds, I'm more in the 1300 a day range. I average about 1-2 lbs of weight loss per week and that has been pretty consistent. I'm 48-years old, 5'5" (that's 165 cm in non-freedom units), and medically unsound. Before the kidney transplant, I spent 10 years not moving much at all (dialysis suuuuucks y'all!) so getting some of the weight off has been helpful in getting me moving.
