I have been terribly distracted from planning meals and I know that's one of the most important things to do for successful weight loss. I should get a little more organized so I'm not flying through my days by the seat of my pants. I do fix and grab on the go whatever is easiest and accessable. Fortunately, I haven't let poor choices throw me into guilt and an eating frenzy. In fact, I could add more veggies and have an acceptable maintenance program. But I do have to get the remaining weight off. Determination and Commitment! You can't hide. I know you two are deep inside me somewhere. Come out, come out wherever you are. I've got to get this thing done.

I have been eating more good veggies and it has made a difference in my caloric outlook. They are not only lower in calories but fill me up better. You're on the right track!

Thanks everyone. I like veggies though I did get tired of salads. There's all the cleaning, cutting and I can't say how many cucumbers, tomatoes and squash that went bad before I got to it. I do better with frozen veggies but they're not as good. Taking time to plan veggies in my meals will certainly help but I would still have to get my taste buds in agreement. Llke today, I did eat my celery but my taste buds would rather have a PB&J.

I am Definitly more of a by the seat of my pants cook. I make recipes up as I go along depending on what is in the fridge or freezer that doesn’t have either mold or frost growing on it.

I am not a meal planner unless I am buying for visitors and then of course you have to. I like the same things all the time. I keep 3 of everything that I use consistently: canned veggies, cake mixes, canned fruit. You get the idea. I may get up and have had something in mind and I just decide to do something else.

Frozen veggies are fine. I hate to throw out food.

Thanks for your input. I usually eat fresh veggies raw. But I think I will use more can and frozen veggies, at least until I can get my taste for veggies back. There will be less waste. I just get from the package the amount I'll eat and if I don't want it, at least it's not rotting in the fridge.

I’m mediocre about food waste— but if it appears that I won’t eat a fresh item in a timely manor, I freeze it and it will always get thrown in a soup pot. Vegas, gravy, meat, rice, whatever. Best ever soup. We grew up on “garbage soup” because we didn’t have a lot of money. It is my favorite. It was always us kids’s most requested meal when my mom made birthday dinner for us.

When I had boys at home, I put all the little spoonfulls of veggies left in a container in the freezer and when it was full made soup. I don't like to waste food either.
