Draglist's Journal, 08 Jun 16

Woke at 207.0, up 1.2 from yesterday. Still a bit bloated despite several productive visits to the bathroom yesterday (for both reasons). Thought they would do it, but apparently something I'm eating is causing water retention. Added two unusual items recently: dry roasted peanuts and Essiac tea (detox). I'm thinking it's the peanuts. Business dinner out tonight at a great steakhouse so probably no recovery workout. UPDATE: Came home after a wonderful dinner out at 208.6. Had filet mignon, spinach, and brussels sprouts, plus a scotch, a glass of red wine, and black coffee. Left the bread and butter to my dinner companions. Hit my calorie goal today and got very close to my macros. Tossed out the dry roasted peanuts. No workout tonight so will be a little light on miles at 4.5 or so. We start again tomorrow!

The peanuts would do it. Drop the Tea detox they're scientifically bankrupt...aka they don't work. That's why we have kidneys

Bill, i know.... They taste soooo good, but are soooo bad for us. If they just had salt on them, that would be one thing. But it's all the other bad junk they feel the need to add also ...eee gads! Toss 'em! :)

Peanuts could be the culprit....I'm still hooked on the sunflower seeds, definitely salt there. Enjoy the steakhouse, should be some good eating options there.

I am not sure but don't some of these places put MSG in their salads and foods to keep them fresher? That makes me bloat up horribly and I stay thirsty.

OK. I'm confused. Are the peanuts you're eating heavily salted? Are you eating Jars of them? Peanuts have a glycemic index of 14. So they are very low glycemic. That shouldn't bump your weight. Now if you're eating a lot (like I like to do) the calories add up quickly. If they're salted, the salt may cause some water retention. However, dry roasted, unsalted peanuts should have no affect as long as you're staying within your overall calorie restrictions.

Good for you Bill - toss those babies. Just checking in after 11 days away, sounds like you are holding your own overall. I'm proud of you!
