HCB's Journal, 16 Feb 16

Greetings, Best Buddies!

When I was a young person, I abused marijuana, cocaine, amphetamines, and other drugs. Today is my 30 year anniversary date of being clean from those substances. I am blessed.

Nutrition plan is going well, and I maintain my dedication to weight lifting and my HIIT workouts.

I am hoping to see a little more change by the end of this month.

MY CURRENT GOALS:
Discuss dose changes with endocrinologist, try for lower carb percentage, lift heavier at the gym and see caliper bodyfat move down in February.

MY LONG RANGE GOALS:
Body fat at 26% or less and scale weight in the 150's or less

NEW
Words of the Week:
“People may doubt what you say, but they will believe what you do.” ~Lewis Cass

I am dedicated, determined and diligent

You are a strong person! Congrats on keeping the course. I'm not a gym fan but I think to bulk up = add weight, to slim down = more reps. Sounds like you are working all angles - healthy eating, exercise, Dr involvement and staying clean. Each of those are challenging by themselves and you are doing it all! Keep inspiring:^)

Way to go, HCB!! I am very impressed by you getting clean and staying clean! My son started on marijuana in high school, "graduated" to meth and other drugs in his 20s. He went to rehab three times, and finally quit those drugs, only to start taking prescription drugs in his early 40s, which his doctor aided and abetted. He died of a prescription drug overdose just a little over a month after his 48th birthday, leaving his much-loved then-seven-year-old daughter. She is now 13, and tells me she really misses him. He would be so proud of her. She loves school and has a 3.586 GPA. He was trying so hard to get clean for her. He just didn't make it in time. Drugs take such a tremendous toll on the ones left behind. I'm SO glad that you are now clean! Kudos to you!! Keep up the good work on your weight loss, too. You can do it!!

Tai-Lin, my heart breaks for you and for your granddaughter. I am beyond impressed by how upbeat you are in your support of HCB. Your pain was so immense. I'm glad your son left you with that wonderful granddaughter, even if he had to leave you far too soon. {hugs}

Kpwcalories, thank you for your kind words. She is my only grandchild, and I am so glad that I have her; not only for me to love, but so I can tell her how much her daddy loved her. Her mother is remarried and she has two little half-brothers now, but I am grateful that her mother does take her to visit my son's grave. They live clear across the state, so I only get to see her rarely. Her daddy would be so proud of her!

My sister has been in and out of rehabs for the last 6-7 years. Her drug of choice was heroin. She has been clean now a few months so far. I actually see her happier than I have ever seen her. I hope she can achieve what you have achieved one day. It gives me hope that she can have a good life someday. This might be because she is young, but she always tells me that she will never have a "normal" life. She can't go to bars or "raves"/EDM concerts where drugs are rampant. But I always say "what makes that NORMAL?" You choose what is normal and good within your own life. I am still young in my 20s and I never hit up bars or go to concerts unless my friends drag me. If I never go then who cares? I rather sit home and knit hats and pillows LOL. I hope see can find something she cares about and can focus on to stay clean like you have. Sorry for the rant, came from the heart :)

Awesome! Food has been my only addiction. I heard a previous opiate user say the other day "Never give up on someone, they are in there somewhere. Addiction is not a death sentence, it just means they need lots of help."

Add my congrats to the list. A great inspiration for all of us. I also love your quote and words for the day. Again, congratulations for showing us that if we want a change in our lives that we are the only ones that can make that happen.
