Day 3 of the egg fast. Weighed 194 lbs this morning, 4.8 lbs down from the start 2 days ago, after the Christmas cookie massacre. I didn't sleep well last night for some reason and have somewhat of a headache...could be because of the dream that I was in the middle of a Walking Dead apocalypse and the only gun I had wouldn't fire so I had to beat the zombies off. But more likely is because my body is complaining about lack of glucose as I transition to ketosis.

I'm making some small exceptions to the "official" egg fast menu. Adding a small amount of frozen spinach to my omelets along with a little chopped portabella mushroom. Carbs are negligible but flavor and texture contributed are significant. And gives me a small amount of fiber. Also putting a tablespoon of heavy cream in my morning bulletproof coffee which is really delicious. That could be habit forming it's so good!

To break the boredom with the eggs I also saute fresh spinach with olive oil then add the eggs. Pretty good stuff.

I am impressed, Jim. I tend to have BP coffee, and a protein loaded shake every day and do not get bored...but not sure I could eat eggs all day for days in a row.

So far I'm still OK with the eggs. I'm actually supposed to have a TBSP of butter with each egg and I get 6 ounces of cheese a day too, both add a lot of flavor. I'm not doing that much butter though as it seem like a lot, about half that actually. The bulletproof coffee plus drinking lots of water keeps me satisfied util around noon. I'm starting to get the "empty" feeling I remember from when I'd do Atkins in the past. Not a feeling of hunger, but a feeling of not having the stomach/belly fullness that extra carbs provide. It's not a bad thing. I am however looking forward to having to sit to use the bathroom, I don't care for THAT effect of extreme low carb and almost no fiber!

Maybe cut the cheese (sorry), my understanding was up to 6oz a day but don't have to have that much. Then shoot for the 1egg/1fat ratio. should help with the "bathroom" issue!

If I may make a suggestion for the headache ( and probably fatigue) you're experiencing, I would take a good magnesium supplement at night (and/or Epsom Salt bath at night) & purposely add 1-2 grams of sodium from sea salt in the morning. A cup of salted bone broth is the best way to go.

I often dream of zombies too! Maybe we should eat more brains! JK :D

Jenny I've been taking Nature Made Magnesium Citrate, a couple capsules first thing in the morning with a couple glasses of water as that has helped things along in the past. Maybe I should try it at night and see if that's better. As for eating brains, one of my teachers in elementary school brought pig brains in and offered samples. As I remember I liked them. :)

Magnesium relaxes the body, so it's better taken at night. Salt helps replenish the electrolytes that we pee out on LC. I cannot tell a lie, I love pig brains. They taste like the breakfast sausage you can buy in the can.

I don't make eggs very often, but I've finally settled on a favorite: scrambled with a drizzle of truffled olive oil (or use a pinch of truffle salt), topped with freshly grated parmesan cheese and cracked black pepper. I get the truffle items from Whole Foods, but any upscale grocery or Harry & David's should carry them.

Soon, that sounds delicious. I've never had truffle oil, does it have a distinct flavor?

You might find that adding more butter and cheese (for the fat) will help with those headaches, Jim, along with your bulletproof coffee.
