Fritzy 22's Journal, 05 Feb 24

The wind was crazy last night! Today is garbage pickup day. I was surprised at how many of my neighbors put their containers last night. And sue enough when I got up this morning to take my containers to the curb I saw all the neighbor's containers had blown over and there is trash everywhere. Just took Bobby for a quick walk since the rain has paused. Didn't see any tree had fallen but lots of branches, including from 2 huge pine trees on each side of my driveway. Other than that just lots of puddles. We didn't get as much as rain as the coast did. My rain gauge shows under 2 inches.

Hope to get back to eating right today. Scrambled eggs this morning with mushrooms and a little cheddar cheese. Will probably make the Asian chicken salad for my 2nd and last meal of the day. Will also make oatmeal for tomorrow and Wednesday although I might have that instead of the salad later today.

Right now I am trying to ignore my knee issue. It just aches a little and I had no problem walking Bobby for 20 minutes. The thought of any surgery just upsets me right now, so denial it is!

I haven't seen Porch Kitty for about 3 weeks. I've been feeding him/her for over 3 years. In all that time she never got tame. She would wait at the top of the porch steps on the other side of the gate and not come get her food until I came back inside and shut the door. She started missing breakfast about 3 times a week awhile ago and no longer seemed to like the canned food I gave her for breakfast and dinner. Instead she waited for me to put out Temptations cat treats and half and half. The she stopped showing up during rainy days. I had a feeling someone else was feeding her or if she was actually someone's cat (probably only allowed in the garage), maybe they moved. I hope nothing happened to her. I still have a little rug on the
porch that she would lay on sometimes.

Sounds wild out there! Stay safe. I hope Porch Kitty is okay.

Thanks Morticia. It's hard not to worry a little about Porch Kitty after more than 3 years of feeding her. But since she wasn't coming to eat as often I think someone else is taking care of her. If I didn't already have 3 cats including one who would fight with any new cat in the house, I would have borrowed a trap and brought her inside. I adopted a feral mama cat years ago and had her for 18 years

I’m happy to hear you didn’t have any major damage from the wind and rain. Lots of people are having such a tough time of it! I’m also glad to hear that you are heading back to eating right. It’s normal to veer off track, but makes it harder to start back in. Trying to get back to good eating myself, but my husband brought home a couple of pieces of pizza left over from dinner with a friend, and he told me this morning that I was welcome to eat it for lunch. I know I shouldn’t have, but I did. It was amazing. Fritzy, we are similar in yet another way. You have porch kitty, and I have a stray cat that I have been feeding for 3 years named Bella. She disappeared for about a week one time last year, and I was just sick with worry. She always waits on the other side of the deck when I bring her food out, but doesn’t go as far as she used to. I hope that porch kitty has found another caregiver. It’s really hard not to worry, but if she has found another place to get food, that solves your problem of what to do for her when you move. So hopefully she is okay.

We have a porch kitty too, as well as a semi-feral who will allow pets, but nothing else. And there's one next door that everyone keeps abandoning. Plus a number of "neighborhood cats" who come for a free meal. Hope your porch kitty is okay.

You'll get back to your regular WOE. I have no doubt. As for porch kitty, I hope he/she is ok. We have 2 cats that come into our yard every night. I always see it in my Ring camera but I never see them during the day.

Thanks Broccolibabe! I call Porch Kitty "Sweety Pie". When my cats hear me say " hi Sweety Pie" they run to the door to look at her through the door and then they expect some half and half. I don't think 2 slices of pizza is that bad. I could work it into my day I think. Well, not sure about the carbs in the crust. I had been hoping someone would adopt porch kitty or move and take her with them so I wouldn't worry when I move. I don't think it's a boy because tom cats typically spray. But then I thought a female would having kittens. It could be the cat has been spayed/neutered.

Thanks Laurie, YOH,and Ancient Hippie - I would feel so much better if I just saw her to know she is okay but I rarely saw her except when she came for meals.

Thanks Diana! I did okay eating yesterday and should be fine today with another salad around 10am and then oatmeal later in the day to keep me feeling full.

Fritzy, I had a porch kitty, too. Her name was “outdoor kitty” and she came with the house. She disappeared after about a year. I could pet her and I had almost gotten her to come inside. You do what you can.
