Fritzy 22's Journal, 27 Nov 23

Yesterday's chuck roast proved to me I need to stick to a low fat diet just like the doctor said. I thought I did okay as far as the portions. I had roast with potatoes, carrots and gravy for 2 meals. I usually don't eat after 2pm. I think I had the 2nd portion between 1-2pm. Around 5 I felt pain on my right side under the ribcage. It was a brief pain but the area was tender all night. I'm fine now. Do you ever Google symptoms? Not a good idea, I found explanations from indigestion to Pancreatitis and more. I had my gallbladder removed 1 1/2 years ago and eating a meal like I did yesterday would cause a gallbladder "attack". This wasn't like that pain which lasted hours and didn't improve when laying down. But it still worried me and I will eat leftovers in tiny portions after freezing for later.

Woke up with knee pain again this morning. Worse than usual. I haven't taken Ibuprofen for 2 days. I had been thinking I'm taking it too much. My doctor first prescribed for leg, hip and lower back pain a year ago and I keep refilling. Although the prescription says to take 3 times a day as needed I was only taking once, at night. But with the knee I need it all day and night. I will take a pill this morning. My doctor said if the pain continues I could get a cortisone shot. I may do that so I can start walking again.

I always trim the fat off all of my meat but beef is getting harder for me to digest. I actually like the taste better than chicken though. It sounds like you need to get a hold of that doctor and get the knee injection. Hugs.

Thanks Morticia! I went ahead and ate a small portion of the roast for an early lunch. We'll see how it goes. I read that beef can hard to digest. I eat it rarely and then it's very lean ground beef. I changed the doctor appointment until the 8th and will get the shot if the knee is the same. Took Bobby for a short walk and couldn't even make it to the corner.

Thanks Shir! It was the day before Halloween when I woke up and my right knee could not support my weight. So I've had s month to feel sorry for myself! My doctor didn't think it was bad enough to send me to physical therapy so I just need to trust him when he says it will get back.

How about washing the roast meat as you eat it with boiling water in a colander. That should reduce some of the fat. Can’t help you with the pain, I know that there’s an art to meds as they had my mom take a pain class when she was waiting for her hip surgery. Maybe Kenna can enlighten you (and me)?

Thanks Kat! Would never have thought about washing the meat! Maybe ill try it when I eat the leftovers. It was a huge chuck roast from Costco that I froze as 2 roasts. Not sure if I will even want the other roast. I avoid red meat for the most part except for lean ground beef once in awhile. I may have lost the taste for the roast! The knee isn't hurting much today. I did take ibuprofen this morning and will have another before trying to s!esp tonight. It hurts when I walk on the pavement but I've been off my feet since walking Bobby this morning.

Sorry to hear you are having pain again. I wish Dr could help you more. Hope your stomach issues resolve themselves as well. Joe has gall bladder issues and ulcerative colitis. We have to eat before 530 or he gets stomach pains.

Thanks Diana! I've had knee pain for a month now. It was 2 weeks before I could put weight on the knee. Now it's a constant ache, sometimes more. After my first gallbladder "attack" I went to my doctor and told her I thought maybe I was having a heart attack when it happened. I wouldn't wish that pain on anyone, it usually lasted for hours. I remember she told me to avoid high fat foods and not to eat enough to get really full. My stomach is fine today! Sorry Joe is having gallbladder issues! I don't know much about ulcerative colitis but expect Joe has food limitations, maybe dairy.

Fritzt, Joe should avoid spicy and processed foods...but he doesn't always 🩷

Diana, sounds like me! I'm supposed to avoid processed foods but it's hard since I don't like to cook. I don't like spicy food.

Fritzy, maybe look at Bob & Brad on YouTube for knee pain? So sorry this is going on.

Thanks Sabryna! Thanks Kat! I may ask the doctor about seeing a specialist at my next appointment if this is still going on. Just got back from a walk on a dirt trail in my neighborhood with Bobby. We had to drive a couple blocks to get there but the dirt trail was much easier on my knee. Walked about 30 minutes, maybe a mile and a half.

How are you doing today Fritzy? That was my favorite meal growing up tho i dont eat 4 legged animals anymore i can still remember how delicious it was. My mom would get the carrots and the potatoes caramelised in with the roast and was just out of this world. I, sadly, do not have that talent. Hope you are feeling at least a little better today than yesterday tho.

Thanks YOH! My knee issues aren't as bad as what others are dealing with. Like you with vertigo and a concussion. The pain is worse at night, maybe because I am more aware of it then. At least I can put weight on it and I was able to walk for 30 minutes this morning.

Hubs uses kinesiology tape on his knees. . He swears by it. Have you tried that? One thing doc said was she was concerned about a second fainting episode. Apparently if i get another concussion on top of this one that is healing it can be very very bad. So, yup, got that little thing to worry about now.

YOH, I think you told me about the tape when I first started with the knee issue. I looked it up but instead got a compression sleeve. I just remembered I stopped wearing it once I was able to put weight on the knee. I thought the sleeve might be the reason I started having constant knee pain. But I haven't worn it in 2 weeks and still have the pain. I think I will put it on tomorrow for the walk with Bobby

Fritzy, Give the tape a shot. He is able to target exactly where the pain is without putting undue pressure in other areas. He also uses it on his shoulders. I have seen some of the athletes on here talk about using it when i mentioned it also. Can’t remember who it was tho.
