I have been musing over what I eat. I have a lot of fat on my body. I am obese with a BMI of like 31.78 and my body has so many aches and pains and it is crying for some kind of relief outside of chiro, physio, acupuncutre and massage.

I was enjoying jogging and do have good endurance and stamina but was told by the acupuncturist that my feet are too small for my body size (aka your too fat to jog) and that it was a bad idea for my joints and that swimming and walking are my best bet for weight loss.

How did I get to this point? Just lack of discipline, lack of self love, and stress. I am thinking that I can keep eating all these carbs and slowly loose weight over the next year and riding all the insulin highs and lows and cravings or I can just turn to a very low carb diet for a few months and burn off the fat stores and then switch to a more healthy way of eating (mediteranian). This is something I will think about over the next few days.

I would ideally love to burn off the fat and then be able to jog and releive the pain in the body I feel from carrying so much excess weight, and though I am not an advocate of the carnivore or keto diet I think temporarily it may be a good option to get rid of so much of this excess fat that is preventing me from doing what I want to do.

If you enjoy jogging, you might want to get a second opinion from an MD rather than an acupuncturist as to whether you have any contraindications on jogging. There are a lot of fat runners. It's my understanding there are some things heavier runners have to consider, such as appropriate shoes for weight, but plenty of people do it. The exercise you enjoy is the exercise you'll stick with, and the exercise you stick with is the one that will work

MD says walking and swimming are also better. It is bad on the joints to jog with so much excess force. I am small boned and have already rolled both my ankles a number of times and have developed a Fibroma in my foot from the injury. Most of my problems seem to be weight related.

Good to know you have a concurring opinion, and wise of you to abide by it. 👍 Walking and swimming are both great exercise

Have you asked your doctor what diet would be best for you to lose weight? My doctor would cringe if I suggested Keto or carnivore. But it depends on your particular health issues. My doctor wants me on the anti-inflammatory diet. My BMI is similar to yours and that is motivating for me. I need to lose 7 pounds to be "just" overweight. Maybe getting to a weight where you can run again could be motivating. Good luck!

I would never recommend Keto or carnivore, but have you considered the Mediterranean diet? Regardless, your weight loss will take off once you empty out your kitchen of any junk food. Walk, don’t run yet. Or dance in your living room for a few songs 🤗

Carnivore and Keto are generally not a great idea for fat loss unless you typically enjoy that style of eating. Otherwise they then to lead to non-compliance and regression. Of the 2 however, at least in my opinion, keto is by far the better option. Carnivore is an excessively restrictive diet that is intended to deal with food intolerance. Not weight loss. It is also not great to deprive the body of fibre, as fibre is essential for gut health. Keto is a diet intended to help deal with symptoms of epilepsy. That doesn’t mean that they can’t be effective in other areas, but it os good to be aware of why they were created in the first place. While some people find it effective, it is also far more restrictive than necessary for fat loss/weight loss goals. Mind you, the vast majority of people claiming to be keto consume more carbohydrates than a true keto diet allows. All of that being said, consider this: Studies show fat loss to be fairly equivalent when comparing a low fat/high carb diet vs a high fat/low carb diet when - and this is the important part - protein and calories are equal. This tells me that as long as we focus on our calorie and protein targets, high carb or low carb really comes down to personal preference. Last but not least, I find this to be an excellent article for setting up and adjusting your nutrition plan in a smart and effective way, if you are interested: https://www.strongerbyscience.com/diet/ Good lick with your goals, however you decide to tackle them!

If you want to relieve the pain that you feel because of excess weight, I would suggest water walking and aqua fitness. Where I live, there is access to a municipal facility that has an indoor water park where you can walk in an artificial river which flows along with a current. People who need to use walkers can walk unassisted in this 'Lazy River.' You can also carry pool buoys as you walk so your arms get exercise as well. You could also just walk in an ordinary pool from side to side. Most municipalities also offer aquafitness classes. I would recommend that you try these out as they are very beneficial for your joints and help in weight loss.

i agree on the jogging. it's so hard on your body even at normal BMI. As for your diet, it's not your fault. We are being pushed carbs everywhere. They are what triggers me. it was hard to change my lifestyle. Really hard. but i wanted to live and be able to walk and not feel pain and inflammation every day. I don't think keto carnivore is excessively restrictive. it's just a different lifestyle. and it works to stop that inflammation in its tracks. I can eat Rebel no sugar ice cream if I want. I can make myself some great carnivore/keto bread IF I WANT. I can make a great keto pizza if I want, i can have some blueberries with cream, veggies. the hardest part is changing lifestyle and getting the bad foods out of your diet. too many of my friends are diabetic. heart failure, neuropathy. so i got my wakeup call. you will find something that works for you.
