Happy Friday Best Buddies!

I am doing better this past week with nutrition and made it to my four workouts as planned. The "Idiot Box" seems stuck - and I am on Prednisone and an anti-biotic. I imagine my body system is a bit confused!

Today, I am thinking about motivation! I see a few of my buddies recently who are "stuck" at a weight and observe they may be frustrated.

What truly motivates us? Some folks see a loss and feel encouraged to continue - like their work is "paying off" and making it worth it. When they get stuck, they may feel angry and sad and think, "Why bother? It is not working!"

Some folks (like me) may get stuck and it just motivates me to dig my heels in a little harder and be a little more determined to "Wait it out, and stick to the plan."

Eventually the inches lost and healthy lifestyle shows up...we must stay motivated through the slow times!

Words of the Week:
"The will to win means nothing without the will to prepare."

I am dedicated, determined and diligent.

Four workouts -- you rock! Yes, it can be difficult to look past the Idiot Box since I think we tend to be a results-driven/numbers-oriented society (i.e., everything's about the 'bottom line') and it does take the commitment and dedication you refer to and exhibit (and just reminding ourselves of the 'bigger picture' as to why we began this journey in the first place) to 'stand and fight' vs. 'cut and run'

And, I love the attitude "stand and fight" instead of "cut and run" - that is great!

Failure is not an option. Failure is what happens when you quit. It's a way of thinking that I've slowly adopted over the years and one that I've instilled in my daughter. Winners don't quit. Achieve you mission. Some are harder then others and require more effort and we may need to move back to get a better idea of what we're dealing with but eventually we can develop a plan to conquer what is in our way so we can get to our goals. I use the BodySpace app from Bodybuilding.com to track my gym work. In that app, and on their site is a community 'FitBoard' where people can post pics, motivational images, etc.. and I'm finding some great messages scattered in between al the bathroom selfies. Always looking forward to your WoW HCB!

HCB, prednisone always stalls me big time and also makes me gain a bit. It causes fluid retention as well. Once you are off of it I have a feeling you will see a drop. I've been on it many times during my weight loss journey. My motivation was always more than weight loss but getting healthier and more fit, also I did not want that threatened knee replacement.

Like you, I keep ona-truckin'. This is not my first rodeo, so I know that stand-stills are part of the diet process. Next week we may drop 3 or 4 pounds; won't know if we don't keep trying!

SoonSoonSoon - you are SO right, and in line with what Frosty said - the only failure is quitting!

Staying motivated. Hard to do at times, but it will pay off.

N-O Q-U-I-T-T-I-N-G!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am frustrated on too many fronts to let a stall stop me. *sighs* I would keep using exclamation points but I think the point is made. LOL

When I have slowed down or stalled on the scale, I do force myself to look at the other aspects of this journey. Sometimes, I will take measurements and add them to the chart I have been keeping to see progress like that. Sometimes I look at the pile of big pants that have accumulated in the closet. Sometimes I dress up in the clothes that I haven't been able to wear in a long time. I enjoy the fact that my kids no longer groan when I make them take the stairs rather than the elevator. I think about how much more I am able to do at the gym these days. So many things are involved in changing lifestyle. You just need to appreciate them when the idiot box frustrates you.

I agree completely IzzyPup68! That is why I dig my heels in and allow the process to just happen!

It reminds me of the tortoise and the hare. We will get there just maybe not as fast as someone else, but really its our own personal race to run anyway. =)

Lady you are doing FANTASTIC if you are doing THIS while you are taking prednisone. If you can do it so can I, that is truly inspirational. Wow. I'm not going to tell you to hang in there, because you are amazing. The other thing is since you are taking prednisone is that you might be gaining more muscle than normal. That is definitely a bright side.
