jmb3450's Journal, 11 Feb 15

I think my days of being able to relax too much on the weekend with my eating then make up for it during the week are over. Less fat to lose means it comes off slower than before. I'd picked Friday for my official weighs because it's easier for me to eat better through the week and that would give me some slack over the weekend, plus weekends are also the usual times for social events. But I'm thinking of recording an official weight on Mondays instead so I'd have more incentive to do a better job of staying the course over the weekend.

The Total Gym I got recently has really proven to be an excellent tool for working out. So far I'm using it for strength training at a higher incline, but it's also great for endurance and cardio with different movements at a lower incline, very versatile. Right now I'm doing 3 sets of 10-12 reps to exhaustion, 7 different movements for upper body and 3 for lower body, still using the stationary bike for cardio plus walking during lunch every day I'm able to. Hopefully this is helping maintain and build muscle while losing the fat. Maybe the best news of all is, I have not had any chest discomfort while exercising in a long time. Studies have shown that it is possible to reverse heart disease, I hope the combination of better diet and exercise is helping me to do that. Which is all the more reason to tighten up my eating on the weekend and avoid the times of going too far overboard.

Happy Hump Day!

Keep up the good work! Sticking with an exercise program isn't easy. The important thing is to pick something you are more apt to stick with. Sounds like you may have found it for you.

I use Monday as my official weigh in date so I won't cheat on the weekends. Weekends are the worst time for me because since Im not working I have more time on my hands and more time on my hands means giving in to cravings and junk food. So changing to Mondays might not be a bad idea

I think you are doing great too! I just took a look at your weight loss history and was struck by something - my high point was 254 as well. It sure feels good when your body starts forgiving you and feels healthier and healthier as you get fitter and fitter. Keep it up!!!

Anyone doing the Intermittent Fasting---50 carbohydrates and if so how much weight have you lost in the first 2-3 weeks?

FrankieBluEyes, the difference in how I feel now compared to how I felt before is night and day as I'm sure you've also experienced. TYyBellamy - I tend to do intermittent fasting in spurts and haven't kept track of specific weight loss with it. Draglist has been going it a long time, you might want to direct questions about it to him. Good luck with it, I've found it to be helpful.

Fasting --- NOT for weight loss but for health is outstanding. The weight loss is a great by product. I just completed an 8 day Water Fast and besides it being an amazing experience spiritually it taught me so much about hunger and hunger management. What I learnt from my experience and feeling it is that Hunger. Hunger pangs are in no way as REAL as we think they are. They are more associated with the HABIT of wanting to eat. When a Person has gone 8 days with just water it dramatically changes ONE's perception of what hunger REALLY is. Since breaking the fast i more fully understand what hunger really is and I am far more in control of the HABIT to eat then ever before. Anyways I will stop droning on…..
