Yesterday's feast

After a successful 4-month diet, I thought it was time to indulge and finally make a pizza. However, I wanted to try to stay faithful to the FS spirit and hunt down a few calories without lowering the decadent factor. This is a 16' pie with homemade marinara sauce topped with 5 meats, 5 cheeses, mushrooms and olives. However, a 1/8 slice is a decent 450 kcal because, a first for me, there is no pork: turkey bacon, turkey ham, turkey pepperoni, chicken sausage and ground beef. I was a bit nervous, but at the end quite happily surprised. With the dough and the sauce, there is a total of 26 ingredients in this preparation.

If it had only been me, it would have ended here, but there are things you do when you have a partner that you would not do on your own like changing the bed sheets once in a while, and of course, baking sweets. On this site, I found this almond coconut cookies recipe which looked promising:

I followed the directions and they came out very nicely at 60 kcal/1tbsp-sized cookie. But I thought that they could use a little boost, so I used some chocolate-butter-egg yolk mix (ganache) on top to get some 140 kcal/cookie little bombs.

Including shopping, it took me more than seven hours to get all this ready. I was quite hungry and eager to gorge myself without having counted the calories in advance, but after 4 months of discipline, I discovered today that I managed to total some reasonable 1,100 kcal, including two 70-kcal Becks non-alcoholic beers which also impressed me. The scale verdict this morning was only +0.6 lbs \o/

I gave away most of the cookies and froze half of the pizza leftovers, but I can't wait to get another slice.

Almond coconut cookies - one of my favourites. I am so full from dinner that I should be looking at food...but ... wow - that is quite a pizza.

Those ganache basted macaroonies look especially great. Congrats on blu-lining and an impressively restrained indulgence. As one who cooks a lot, I find there is often enough gratification in the making and plating that it curbs my desire to binge.
