FullaBella's Journal, 27 Feb 14

Thursday Morning - February 27th. All Things Food have been much better for two days. A interesting 'awareness' of the traps I'd set for myself revealed when the thought passed my mind, 'well, thank goodness I'll be away from these temptations this weekend.' When the home isn't the 'safe' place, well, there's no one to blame but me.

Such slippery slopes I construct for myself. Improving blood sugar and cholesterol lab results seemed to give my tongue and dipping hand carte blanche with the peanut butters (yes, a variety) and cherry preserves I was adding to my oatmeal at night; lying to myself in a manner of 'if a little is okay, a lot more is fine too.' Wrong. All things in moderation.

For me it builds and in the absence of mindfulness I found myself laying in bed (sans plate, light, or any sign of eating with attention) quickly devouring a large piece of chocolate candy while watching TV in the dark. Acid reflux and a 5lb jump on the scale prompted a 'water flush and intermittent fast' Tuesday. The excess departed Wednesday and my resolve returned reminding me I need to try to do a little better.

Read this browsing Pinterest during a long phone monologue yesterday (theirs, not mine): If you have a bad thought about yourself tell it to go to hell because that's exactly where it came from.' Good reminder, hmmm?

Deep tissue massage last night left me feeling like a puddle of butter. (Mmm, butter, LOL) It was incredible. I'm sore but feel some of the pain is on the way out. I have been doing yoga stretches here at home; not ready to return to the classroom yet.

I was thinking about how I have fallen off the wagon so many times and thought about fortitude. Reflection led me to wonder if the reason I seem to feel so much calmer and wiser with age isn't so much experience as it is surrender. Is the reality that I haven't really learned or gained anything, I just gave in to the universe and let it rule?'

And the following link is '35 Little Hacks That Will Make Parenting So Much Easier' for all the new mommies and daddies out there. I thought it was pretty cute. Especially the gaming remote and swing tip. Click Here to read the 35 Tips

I may write later, or I may not be here in print for a few days. Either way, know that you all remain in my heart and will be in the car with Mushy and me as we venture out on our trip; a first in a long time without someone here at home wondering if we made it safely. We'll be fine. I know I have a hoard of Angels protecting me.

Until I return, take care my friends.

Count me in as an Angel praying for your safe travels, my sweet wonderful friend! I'm so glad the massage gave you some relief & to hear that you're doing yoga starches at home. Knowing I wouldn't, motivates me to get to the gym, but exercising at home works better for many. You'll know if the time is right to go to the classroom. Hugs from me too! xoxox

Safe travels Bella x Such a good idea getting a massage....and I think eating a little bit of chocolate cannot be classed as a fail, when you consider just how far you have travelled...

Your reaction to your bit of unmindful eating was perfect. You were still being mindful...just a bit after the fact.:) It just reminds me to stay present not only with our eating, but in all areas of our life. Enjoy your trip with Mushy and safe travels!

Great job on staying focused through your little indulgence. Must have needed it. Glad I'm not a new parent so skipped the funny for this morning maybe this weekend when I'm missing you and need to read your journal again. Have a wonderful trip. You know my name so you can find me on Pinterest too! :)

Hope you have a great trip! A little note on Pinterest - while I do sometimes love it and find it inspiring, too much time spent browsing can make me feel like a lazy fat loser with a really bad wardrobe. It's important to remind oneself that it's kind of like a magazine more than a social network. A lot of the photos are of MODELS, the project photos can be professionally staged and the "home design" stuff is definitely so perfect it's the stuff of magazines - with that in mind - browse away!

Hope you have a safe and great trip, you and mushy! Not sure what the weather is like out your way, just drive safe. And the pinterest quote - Perfect! Send it back to hell, I'm going to remember that. It might just be added to my mantra, "Progress, not perfection." Cheers
