FullaBella's Journal, 07 Oct 13

I'm not sure if it's because of 'Monday' but I'm feeling a bit irritated and short tempered today though can't identify any specific reason for it. The sun is shining and the temperature is moderate. So I'll play the hormone card and move on.

Mystery Dinner Theater Friday night was fun. A local group trying to form an art community did a 'pirate themed setting with a who-dunit murder'. Dinner was chicken, corn on the cob and fried potato wedges with vanilla ice cream as the dessert. None of the evening would have been considered high brow except for the four snobs sharing the table. Their costumes were great and after a while the 'Arrgs' were comical. I enjoyed it. It was local, inexpensive (actually free as my IRL friend picked up the tickets) and better than listening to 'Family Guy' echo from the bedroom.

Old time Festival Saturday - more fun. Then again, I closed the shop and took the whole weekend off so was already off to a good start. Their town festival definitely puts our town festival to shame. More street vendors, a parade, car show and more. I took my grandsons; they even experienced their first cake walk ever and each won so that was nice.

I bought a small picture for my bathroom; it reads 'Life is a Journey and You hold the Map'. Nice little reminder to me as I begin my day. I had a great time, bought a pretty pair of dangling 'heart' earrings and some beautiful mums. But a cold front came in, brought rain with it, and dropped the comfortable mid 70's to mid 50's so we came home, watched 'The Heat' and I made beef & chicken stew and cornbread.

Sunday the weather recovered so I spent as much time as possible outside in my yard after the usual Cinderella chores plus decorating the store front for Halloween. I'd painted Mushy's 'suitcase bed' but didn't do the bling yet - it's in the window waiting to see if she'll enjoy laying in it (she got in it once but that's all) before I melt my fingertips with a hot glue gun for nothing.

Food? Friday afternoon I was a bit hungry and I probably should have had a small snack but didn't want to 'not' be hungry at the dinner theater. But by the time we were served I was over the top. Normally I'd skip corn and potatoes but this time I'm proud I stopped and didn't eat the paper plate. Saturday at the festival, well, what can I say other than any morning that starts out with a chocolate brownie for breakfast is just asking for challenges. Spinach enchiladas for lunch. More brownies and chocolate chip cookies while making the stew. Finally got some good hot soup in me and settled down when DH asked for brownies and ice cream!

I heard myself rationalizing 'more' as I prepared his dish. "Oh, what's the big deal. You've already had so much of this today. What's a little more?'

At that point myself answered, "Because, you HAVE already had quite a bit of this today and don't really NEED a little more. How about you go take a nice hot shower and when you come back you can have one of those great crisp sweet Macintosh Apples you picked up Thursday?'

It worked; actually by the time I got out of the shower I didn't want either. I had a handful of pistachio's and went to bed. Yesterday it was nearly 2pm before I finally ate; had more hot soup. Tuna later in the afternoon followed by yogurt and an apple when I got out of my great tub soak. All in all was having an A+ day of eating.

Then it happened; the night stalker grabbed me and I had coconut pudding, a brownie, and a chocolate chip cookie. No logic. But I'm not going to beat myself up about it. Today I'm doing better and I'll grade this weekend a B- overall for eating.

Here's hoping all of my friends are having an A+ day.

Weekends are always hard for me. Sounds like you had a fun weekend though. I love the fall fairs.

I enjoyed reading your confessional. Despite the few little hiccups it sounded like a fun filled week with lots of activities. Here’s my mini confession: I completely dropped off the radar of logging last week because I think I got too excited about spike days. When I was on my fourth consecutive spike day I knew I had gone too far. I completely and without hesitation blame the alien invasion. It could not have been me eating cupcakes. This week is going to be A+ and no alien invasions allowed.

Sounds like a great weekend, my friend... Regardless of the grade! You enjoyed yourself & got right back on track, which I'm realizing is truly what it is all about. As angelic as you are, you aren't perfect... Darn near close though! And for every imperfect step, you traveled miles & miles on your healthy eating & living journey! Xoxox

Sometimes you breathe a sigh of relief when you get a b - knowing how easily it could have been an f.
