Ok, I take it back - I'm NOT doing ok! Yesterday, my waist on the right side had been uncomfortable, and I thought my waistband of my underwear and pajama bottoms was just too tight. This morning, I woke up with it hurting and looked at the area, and it was red and raised, and it itched and feels like pins are being poked in it. Went to the emergency room (because my best friend has shingles and said that's what it might be), and found out I DO have Shingles! They said it is in the very early stages, and put me on an antiviral, and said it might not get as bad because we caught it early. When I was a kid, if I was sick, my Mom would always buy me an Almond Joy candy bar. I was tempted to buy something when I was at CVS getting my prescription; but I resisted. When I got home, I had my "Mounds" bar - an Atkins Chocolate Coconut Bar with only 2 Net Carbs. I might indulge in TWO of them today! But I'll still be within all my macros.

So sorry you have shingles! Did you get the vaccine? my youngest son had it a couple years ago in his 30s. Take care of yourself 💛

Crazy- i had to take someone to a doctor's appt the other day and the doctor mentioned shingles is going around. One of my employees was sent home with a rash and it was shingles. You may not be feeling well- but seems to me you are doing way better than OK at handling the stress eating. Great job! Get well soon!

Thanks for all the well-wishes. I'm not MISERABLE, just uncomfortable and on edge. Thankfully, I'm sticking with the program and not letting this get me off track.

I hope the antiviral does the trick and your case is limited to the one spot! You've reminded me that it's time for that shingles shot I've been putting off. It made my cousin sick for 2 days so I'm not looking for to it.

Debbie, hopefully you and the doctors caught early enough to prevent a full scale break out. I just said to my daughter yesterday that at my next doc appointment (September 1) I am going to ask for the vaccine. Treat yourself with gentle good care.

just a PSA - as grand parents have had it in our family - if you are 50 or older, get the vaccine. they describe the pain (and it will re-occur as it is a virus that lies dormant in your body) as something unbearable in its worst state. there is also a second booster you get a few months later. when i turned 50, i was on it, after hearing my wife's grandfather talk about his pain. i hope the antivirals take care of it for you, Debbie, does not sound fun.
