I made the buns, and I promise the bbq hamburgers were great... not burned! The photo just makes it look bad! German potato salad and roasted beans were kids' picks as was the chocolate and cheese cake we made. It was a fun meal with my family!

Very nice photo actually and the food looks great! A homemade bun just might be very good!

I often wish I lived closer to you- today is not that day. I would be eating it all- which would be perfectly acceptable if I wasn't still working off last Sunday's sheet cake. Looks heavenly!

Darn nice traditional spread. Love the red, white, and blue with the cheesecake.

Thank you all so much! It was all pretty tasty! Ireland, I don't often take pictures of food, but your comment was sure encouraging! Thanks! Princess, I would be so happy to have you and your family over for a meal! ❤️ We could probably persuade Chris to come over too! 😁 That would be fun! And... I've still got recovery to do this week for sure. 😊

Any recipe to share for the buns? They look so good!

Hey, wifey dear, I don't use an exact recipe because I don't measure really. But, two cups water, 1ish tsp. salt, a scoop of sugar... Maybe 1/4 cup yesterday, a few glugs of olive oil, I tablespoon yeast (for sure since I always measure yeast). Around five cups flour to start with. It is very simple recipe. I've make this as bread, rolls, pizza, cinnamon buns... with adaptations for decades... Literally. 😁

Too funny. I use the exact same ingredients in my recipe, and I don’t measure either. We’re pros lol!! It’s so versatile isn’t it?! Thanks! ❤️

Lately though, I’ve had a few issues with it rising, thinking it was the olive oil. But I’m rethinking it is humidity. Have you ever experienced this?

Hahah! Cool, we are bakers together! The only time I have trouble with raising is if I happen to put too much flour in to start with... It gets too stodgy. Well, from time to time my water or milk is too hot. 😁 ❤️

Thanks, guys! Stillbelieving, for this the internet is your friend! I don't really have many recipes I use. The roasted beans are just some oil and seasoning. The potato salad is just potatoes, raw onions, salt pepper, oil, water, and vinegar... A very simple German inspired dish. Cake is just a regular, super moist, chocolate cake but with a mixture of cream cheese, cornstarch and sweetened condensed milk poured on top, which then settles to the bottom creating a layer that is like cheese cake!

I love the red, white and blue on the cake! So patriotic! 🇺🇸
