NSV: My daughter and I baked amazingly delicious chocolate chip cookies. I have eaten and logged three. I will end my day well under my RDI and if I'm hungry after dinner I will eat something else. Maybe another cookie, maybe something else. The old me would have eaten 10 cookies by now and would probably eat more after dinner. I was able to really enjoy the cookies without feeling sick and fuzzy headed from overeating them. Because I'm not labeling my eating as bad, I am not beating myself up over eating them nor am I continually thinking about eating more. They are here. I can have a small indulgence or not. They do not control me. I am in the driver's seat. Dinner will be salmon with a small potato and whatever veggie hubby decides to make. This is sustainable. I'm in it for the long haul. I have about 60 pounds to lose. It's going to take a long time, but that's okay. Healthy, reasonable habits that last the rest of my life will serve me well. Thanks to everyone who has continued to support me. I wish you the best as well.

You got the idea. Neither you nor the food is “bad”. Guilt should not be a part of a weight control journey. You made an adult decision to have a couple of cookies. period. Then you move on with your day and continue your normal eating pattern. The Goal should be healthier eating most of the time and less healthy or weight friendly things once in a while. You did good.

Thank you Kenna. I wish I had figured this out years ago. At least I have been able to pass this along to my girls.
