Today, as I was at work observing how this latest chapter in our collective history was playing out for the people around me, I needed to pause. It felt like I was being squeezed and nearly paralyzed. I do understand how frightened some people are - it would be inconsiderate to discount how this is impacting people. The focus was on what I don't have, what might happen, what other people are doing. There is a great deal of indecision and hysteria being pumped out at a deafening level at every turn. Lots of disconnected information, a general lack of trust, conflicting reports and lots of opinions. I decided that I would take stock on my situation at this given moment. Right here and right now - a check up so to speak. How are things right at this moment - I have had my coffee, I have had at least one hot meal, I have had at least one positive conversation, I was able to help my team today, I said thank you for a kindness, I have a reason to celebrate today. It is so easy to get wrapped up in the veil of fear and let it effect my every decision. I am going to head home after work and enjoy my home - I am going to be grateful for what I have and be at peace. Life is too short to simply focus on the perceived wrongs of the world - I am choosing to be positive and to make my small part of the world the best I can with what I have. I hope that you all find a way to be at peace today and enjoy the moments you have.
