Kenna Morton's Journal, 15 Mar 20

The governor of California has asked that all people over 65 voluntarily self quarantine. It seems that they now know that people can test positive for the virus for days before they become symptomatic and that may be a more significant factor in the spread of the disease than spread by symptomatic people. I heard this myself only late last night so am still unclear as to the details.

There are so many unknowns about this pandemic. Many in our generation and younger only have the knowledge of stories of similiar situations that have been passed on by our parents or grandparents- or not in many situations. This time in the past week has really given me an insight into friends and family. I have smoke and fire detectors in my home and everyday buckle up for safety. I have virus protectors on my internet connections to protect my financial and personal information security. i am doing all I can to protect myself and others at this time. When I read or hear from others comparing the death rates of this to the common flu I shake my head in disgust. Since when did the death rate of any virus become the barometer youjudge what is or is not an acceptable death rate. No one should die of a contagious virus.... whether it is this or the chicken pox.

This has been clear for some time now in Spain (we are some days ”ahead” in the progression of coronavirus). This is especially important in the case of children because they can remain absolutely asymptomatic and spread the disease among their families

CrazyCatChick - I think comparisons are made to prevent mass hysteria. I think people who are saying that are trying to keep people from panic. When people panic they make dumb choices. The other side to that is that by trying to prevent mass hysteria, some folks will twist that information and interpret that as not to take it seriously. It's a damn if you do, damn if you don't type of thing. But I know one thing, people being polarizing towards each other isn't going to help at all. This is a time to be good humans and act with the spirit of collaboration and understanding. Instead of as you say "disgust". There is no right answer and everyone should focus on their strengths. Some folks can be on the side of reducing panic while others can use their gifts for holding others accountable. Focus on working together.

Yes, you can walk around completely with no symptoms and yet still have the virus and it can still be spread.

We are doing that here in Abilene Texas. I started my own quarantine because I had bronchitis and I have just stayed pretty much in my apartment. I look to see if anyone is in the hallway before I go out of the apartment to even check my mailbox. Plus I wait until evening time to check because I rarely see anyone else out and about. Much love ❤️ to you all. Stay well and gentle hugs to all. 🧘🏻‍♂️🚶🏻‍♀️👩🏻

Crazycatchick...I didn't mention paranoid or overreacting, that is until now because now you are being parnoid and overreacting

There are families without food because people panicked bought...it's a balancing act..kids who rely on school meals... sorry if I don't believe on polarizing people and showing respect for others which you have a reputation for not doing. And it's your misconcption that I am not hunkerig down due to your overreaction towards what I said. I work in infectious diseases so please...people shouldn't make death rate comparisons because the severity of the virus is unknown - you can do to the CDC website and that fact is clearly stated. The flu has a vaccine so deaths are mitigated. Look up the flu epidemic of 1918. All of this is mute because if you don't believe in working together and being disguested by everything and everybody that is on you!

AMT I am not paranoid. Family in the Kirkwood zone some of who are high risk. You call out me I call you out. There is no "scientist" or "expert" who has an misconception of what is going on that has a personal and direct connection. What is yours ? I am more than familiar with the CDC and NIH. What is your personal experience with this situation ? I expect none.....

Whoa...isn't this Kenna's journal?

Yes it is Kenna's journal. I support her 100%. She has always expressed sound adivice and caution and precaution. She quotes CDC and NHI... which is what I follow.

I have not once recalled CDC or NHI calling people paranoid, crazy or overdoing it if they are self quarnting, staying inside, stocking shelves.. They all call that preparadness. It is people on some of these social media forums who think that is craziness.

Crazycatchick ...here this loud and clear NO ONE CALLED YOU PARANOID. The only thing paranoid behavior you are exhibiting is thinking somone called you paranoid. Please reread what I wrote again...nothing in it was directed at calling you paranoid. Perhaps your defensiveness is coming from somewhere else and is extremely misdirected.

I am very sorry to hear about those who in your circle who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and I will ignore your comments, not take them personally, as perhaps you are being more sensitive about the issue at this time. I wish you and your family well. But nothing was directed at offending you other than a message of "let's all work together" instead of hating on each other. That was it.

AMT, great creds!

My only "contribution" to Kenna's journal was to ask (confirm) that it's HER journal. There's really no need to comment with expletives on someone else's journal when each of us can choose to do so in our own journals, if that's what a person wants to do.

Thanks, acomandr. I also want to make this clear - I am in no way, shape, or form condoning others to not self-isolate or not take this seriously. It is a great time to reflect and take time for self-healing. Someone I know proposed the idea of meeting everyone on Google handout to teach each other things or to reconnect with those we haven't spoken to in a while. There are so many other ways at looking at things as opposed to polarizing each other. Collaborate, change the narative, think of solutions.
