Debbie Cousins's Journal, 30 Jan 20

I've been doing a lot of things RIGHT - just not with regard to my WOE. Pretty much eating anything I want to almost this whole week, and it is showing on the scales. I'm still more active than my "normal" (which was not even leaving the house just a couple months ago). I go out about every other day now, for one reason or another, and I've been doing walking laps IN my house while the weather has been extra cold -- not a LOT of laps, but getting in at least 1/2 mile a day, which is better than nothing. Been reading, watching and studying a lot of self-help/motivational things this year, and have just started meditating for the first time in my life. Still trying to learn to quiet my mind. Lots of room to GROW in my life (and lots of room to SHRINK in my clothes)! You can always tell when I'm slipping away, because I stop journaling and recording my Food intake.

Hang in there, Debbie. You are aware of what's going on with you , that's the first step to getting to where you what to go on this WOE journey. Be accountable to YOU. Journal, whatever you eat, it will FREE YOU from the food prison and you will start back to making healthier choices for yourself, once you SEE it. Until you call a thing a thing, you can't do anything about it. I love your spirit, your transperacy, and support you give us on FS. Please whisper some of that support into you own ears and HANG IN THERE!!!

Debbie, I don't want to sound presumptuous, but I have to ask you a question based on the struggles I've seen you going through these last few months. Have you ever considered trying a different way of eating? I think you know the WOE I am following (successfully so far), and one of the things about it is that I have no food restrictions, just calories (1500-1600 per day). I certainly don't want to tell anyone how to manage their WOE, but I do care about you and I see that you are having a difficult time right now. (((HUGS)))

I'm glad you are meditating. I seem to do better on different levels of my life, including WOE, when I meditate daily. It also is humbling as I see how many time my mind wanders during meditation time, and has to be brought back to my focus.

tracking your food on this app has helped me. Before I had no idea how many calories, carbs, and fat I was consuming each day. I read my bible first thing in the morning and again before bed. I at the same time log my food for the day.

Debbie..you are trying to put so many healthy habits into place...WOE and moving and shaking. Maybe try to reach 100% on your goals every day, but consider it a success if you reach 90% a couple of days? One day you might be short on fiber or a little over on carbs...but that day was still overwhelmingly successful. I'm like you somewhat...an all or nothing kind of person. I might not get all of my fiber in 7 days a week...but I get there 6 days a week. If you are meeting your goals with consistency you will get there. Please stay strong! This is a lifestyle choice and you know what works for you. XOXO

@likat, "WOE" = "way of eating," an alternative to the word "diet," maybe less negative. "Diet" suggests a temporary measure where food is concerned, while "WOE" suggests making food choices within the context of one's life.
