"When you look at long-term diet intervention trials that are 12 months or longer most people reach their lowest weight around six months and then slowly start to regain. If you’ve been following me, you understand there are a multitude of reasons this happens including hunger and decreased non-exercise activity thermogenesis and an obesegenic environment along with usual stress and life. One strategy to combat this “diet fatigue” is to use diet breaks and phases in your weight loss plan. There aren’t any hard set ways of when to use them exactly but we typically go three months on then 1 to 2 months off at maintenance and then go back at it again if needed. I will say that some are able to continue losing at a steady rate without any issues so this is somewhat individual. But if you’ve dieted before and you feel this happens to you where are you are unable to maintain for more than a few months at a time it may be a good idea to employ these diet breaks or you practice maintenance for a few months and then go back to dieting. #rpstrength #dietbreak"- Spencer Nadolsky

Good to know. I'm mulling this over as a possible plan when I start to plateau. Thanks for posting this. :)

Good information Diablo. I’m really struggling to get into Onederland. I’m going to continue to push because it would be nice to make it by 1/1/20. I will try to remember this moving forward. I have been switching things up so hopefully I can get there soon.

For me - those photos would be reversed. I am much more upset whenever I decide 'well, heck, gotta do this' .. but ease off into more relaxed McConaughey. Then I get too relaxed and.. well, I'm over explaining the joke...

Thank you for the diet break info. I’m trying to maintain over the holidays this year and I feel like that good considering how far I’ve come (for myself). But the 12 days of Christmas commences on Saturday so we’ll see ...
