Fritzy 22's Journal, 02 Dec 19

I am really struggling to lose any weight and I seem to have started a pattern. It seems like I need to fast to show a loss. After my vacation I fasted for 3 days just to get back to where I was before vacation. I am not eating poorly at all and feel like I should be losing a little. I was really good on Thanksgiving, having just a little bit of most dishes (a tablespoon or two) and a small piece of apple pie. But that was 4 days ago and the weight hasn't budged. Decided not to fast after all, because I don't want to NEED to fast to lose weight. Maybe I will go back to what worked previously. IF - stopping food between 2-3pm. I'd have my morning hot chocolate with 1/4 bagel with light cream cheese for breakfast, snacks of 10-20 raw almonds and a low fat mozzarella string cheese and a light lunch/dinner (scrambled eggs or something). But I got bored with that.
I am about to make scrambled eggs for lunch however!
Just got back from the grocery store and I really avoided some bad choices. When I feel discouraged like this I tend to make poor purchases at the grocery store. I looked at the ice cream and was really tempted by the $2.99 for a half gallon but knew I would eat the whole thing by tomorrow. Didn't even look at the chips (my usual weakness). But I did give in and buy 4 liters of Diet Coke in spite of giving up sodas months ago. Couldn't resist the 4 for $5 price and I needed something!

Sorry Fritzy. Sometimes it is just tough. I do not know how effective fasting is in the long run. I think for many it created a zero net sum ending up being an alternate feasting famine thing. maybe that is what is happening with you. It is a long journey... establish your healthy eating and trust it to work...

Fritzy, you've got this. Stay on course, eat and it will happen. Think long-term, you can't go through the rest of your life starving yourself. Good luck!

Thanks Liv - I've had success with IF when losing weight and my doctor was supportive, telling me that studies have shown people who fast on a regular basis tend to live longer. However, while I can do it in a "lose weight" frame of mind, I don't I will be able to continue once, of if I ever reach goal. I was hungry around 6pm last night and ate an entire bagel with cream cheese! This morning I am down over a half pound. Shirfleur and Live - I don't want to fast then binge as a way of life. Although I usually break any fast with something light. Thanks for the support. I really needed help to get through yesterday! But luckily didn't buy anything bad in the grocery store.

Anytime I start my day with carbs and sweets, I am hungry all day. I do much better with protein for breakfast, typically eggs scrambled with butter. Fasting isn't my "thing".

Have you tried just sticking to whole foods. just the way they came in nature. If you need more info, let me know 💕

In order to truly lose weight and be healthy, eating meats, dairy, sugars and anything processed will not allow you to lose weight. I am going to school to become a health coach and I know a lot about nutrition. I personally have been able to maintain a healthy weight, heal myself from epilepsy and acne through eating whole food plant based. It is unfortunate that people do not realize how bad eating meats, dairy and sugars are for you. Check out Forks over Knives. It is amazing what people have transformed into after eliminating all animal consumption and non natural sugars.

You are blessed with wise friends, eating junk food harms your body just like cheap gas destroys a car. Once you are healthy you won't even miss unhealthy foods.

Make your adjustments, you know what to do. But, also, know that you are doing good. Your calendar starts in Sept and your loss is steady and consistent. That's the right way, gradual, consistent.

I know you don't like vegetables but I think you might be at the limit of intake where you just have to eat more veggies and less bread. Also get out and walk. These are the two pieces of advice that I am giving myself, and I think we are in the same boat stallwise. Good luck!

Thanks for the support Gz9gjg, Yogagnosis, Bella Margarita, ColetteMarie, RgaDawg, Abba! Abba, for the most part I don't eat much bread. That's why eating an entire bagel yesterday was such a surprise! I try to limit myself to 1/4 bagel or half slice of bread when I have it. And I am TRYING to eat more veggies and managed a nice walk this morning. I try to walk most days but today was the first day in the last 3 where it didn't just rain all day. Good luck to you with the bread as well! To all who talk about whole foods, not eating meat, etc - I currently have 2 doctors who are vegan. I don't eat much meat anyway, but have a hard time getting sufficient protein. Don't think I will give up dairy for awhile, since about 1/3 to 1/2 of my daily protein comes from skim milk and a string cheese eaten daily. I avoid processed meat and am trying to reduce and eventually eliminate processed foods. Baby steps.
