Apple pie for a “Friendsgiving” this afternoon

The numbers for this are not anywhere close to what the flan was, and this is way to good to toss.

Thanks everyone. This turned out to be a fabulous pie— the best one yet. But that was the end of the BLACK ARKANSAS apples that I used. They really were the key to how this tasted.

The nice thing about this apple pie is that it doesn’t have that sickly sweet, heavy sugar taste so it lets the true flavor of the apple come through. The recipe comes from the King Arthur (flour) website and is just called — apple pie..the secret tip to the flavor is that you take unfiltered apple cider , about 1 1/2 cups an reduce it down to 1/2 cup and add it to the apple mixture. What a difference it makes.
