Homemade 15-bean soup -- great way to use up random meat and veggie leftovers in the freezer -- and that big bag of beans in the cupboard.

I love the idea of mixing lots of different beans the next time I cook a bean soup!

No idea of the calorie count on this one, though, because I just kept adding random ingredients and spices until it tastes good. Will just pick something that seems close in the FS food list.

I've been trying to use beans many times a week now. I got an instapot last year, so it really does make preping them easy. That soup looks perfect.

I have a couple of other friends who got an Instapot and love it, too. Not sure I have the patience to learn to use it, as I tend to cook on the fly with no recipe, using what I gave on hand, and adding ingredients/spices as I go, until it tastes good. The joke around our house is... Me: "So, how did you like it?" Husband "It was good." Me: "Would you eat it again if I made it again?" Husband: "Yeah, but I know you'll never be able to make this exact thing again."

Ooh Twiga, the way you cook you would love Instant Pot. You can do a manual function. So much faster than stovetop or slow cooker (obviously). It wakes a beeping noise once you put the lid on right, so you can't mess up. I have made many soups and stews in it. XOXO

I agree with binky, it is so easy! But, I love how you cook! That is kinda like me a bit especially when it comes to stews and soups. But, the instapot makes creating the foundation for the meal so easy. I still soak most of my beans, but to just toss them in the pot and have them done so quickly is awesome. Or, conversely, I put them in and forget them for many hours while busy with my day and they are perfectly ready and hot to use! If you can get one second hand or a really good deal, I think it is awfully nice to have one!

I didn't realize the instapot had a manual setting. Maybe that would work for me. Will have to do a bit of research on it.... Maybe a candidate as a Christmas gift fur me...
