Fritzy 22's Journal, 05 Oct 19

I've been done in by a banana cream pie! I've been so consistent and dedicated since the 1st of July. Only had a couple of planned meals off plan when on vacation or out with friends, or the Chinese food earlier in the week. I bought a Claim Jumper frozen banana cream pie and it's been in the freezer in the garage. The plan was to put individual slices into pyrex dishes and keep frozen and eat one piece at a time over time. That plan fell apart when I took the pie out to thaw enough to eat. It takes forever to thaw. I had one piece still partially frozen late the other night. Then tried a little more when it was less frozen. Ate it, though it tastes like ice. Then I ate another big piece for breakfast and had a couple more pieces later in the day before just throwing the rest of it out. Didn't throw away much! Anyway, it's over with and I hope I've learned something. Not sure what I've learned, either just don't buy the pie or put individual slices away ASAP. Probably the best thing is not to buy at all. My local grocery store does sell individual slices of cake and possible pie as well. Need to be able to just have one portion available to me! Tomorrow is my weigh in day and I expect a gain. Sigh.

It’s over and done with but, my I suggest something? I learned that if you don’t deprive yourself than your less likely to binge on it. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Have you considered baking yourself. Six inch pie pan. Frozen Marie Callender’s crust or make an easy one yourself. You can substitute zero net carb SWERVE for the sugar. It is so easy to do. And truly, once you eat a homemade one that you have done yourself you will never go back. 2 pieces, no leftovers to haunt you and far less calories and carbs. I do the same thing with cakes. 6 inch cake and brownie pans and even small size bread pans for banana bread . Unless you are type I diabetic you don’t have to give these things up—- you just have to be smart about how you include them in your WOE. and plan for it.

Jcmama - it's one of my 2 favorite pies (blackberry is the other), I should have known better. Tatauu - I know I'll be okay as long as I just get back to eating like I should. Kollette - I do deprive myself - there's really no way I can justify banana cream pie when I'm trying to lose weight. But you are right if I'm too tough I tend to over do it. I've figured out ways to have a small portion or just one of something. But that's having stuff away from home. Like getting just an ice cream cone at Baskin Robbins or having pizza where I can buy just one slice. Draglist - I know what I can have in the house and resist - and banana cream pie isn't one of those things! Sweet Georgia Peaches - I'm not going to beat myself up about it. You're right, tomorrow is another day. Kenna - no I haven't thought about baking anything myself. But a 6 inch pie pan is a good idea. I am not on a low carb diet and am not diabetic. But I count calories and my main focus is getting sufficient protein. I try to eliminate as much as possible processed foods. Thanks everyone for the support.

Oh woah! This is the pie! I am still suffering the up swing of the scale from a beautiful, Lebanese coffee cake my youngest daughter made for my birthday. I must have eaten at least a quarter of it, and it was the heavy, moist, butter filled bunt type with apples and cinnamon. We even made a cream cheese frosting for it. Moving on... ☺️!
