erikahollister's Journal, 01 Sep 19

Well, after a week of eating well below my usual calorie level, I had a family gathering and let myself eat hearty. Ate more carbs than my keto plan allows, but enjoyed the food and company. So, tomorrow is another day. I'll give myself a few days to dump the glycogen stored water gain, then see where the scale lands. Now that my lovely family has left, I'm back on program! No more fresh figs!

Figs! 😋 yum! My husband just picked 2 gallons of gorgeous ripe grapes today, I’m sitting here and the sweet scent has me about nuts 😂 it’s not easy when fruit is coming to harvest! You’ll recover, and I’m sure you enjoyed the day, so no regrets! Carry on 😁❤️

The great thing is that the longer you’re on plan, the easier it is to get back to fat burning mode. Was really off plan during vacation and was 8 lbs up on Monday and by Wednesday was 8 lbs down. Zero real weight gain.

Guess around 36 hours to get rid of the higher water content in the colon. Then maybe another 36 hours for the inflammation (glycogen) to clear out. When I tried out various foods after over a year on meat, I found strawberries and papaya didn't cause much problems. Had some strawberries that probably was contaminated by pesticides, and they gave me itchy skin. Then had them again, and they were fine. Papaya made the colon feel like a compost bin, but otherwise not much problems. I think it can be very good to have more freedom at special events like this. Having good everyday habits is what really counts I think.

Thanks friends! I think it's good to mix it up sometimes, while not eating anything truly unhealthy. My daughter and I did her exercise routine on the deck followed by a swim in the river. It was a nice day!

For me, making these kind of exceptions is what keeps me on the diet. I hope you had a great time with the fam.

Don't know what happens on KETO but when I overeat and then get back to it- its a nice jump start and a nice break from routine. Good luck!

Life needs some flexibility, and a break allows for an opportunity to recommit. Thanks DP, Liv and MM&I.

You're doing great Erika. Your story's pretty close to mine. I also listen to Mark Hyman and have his books and also when he does his summits I listen to all his speakers. I'm praying for you to have great success. I can tell you enjoy the journey as well as being serious about what you're eating. That's a good thing. I'm trying to learn to enjoy things around me while I'm trying to recover from so many health issues. I'm happy to join the fs community for the support and the encouragement. I'm still learning a lot. I like hearing everybody's input. It does help me learn.
