I was at Woodstock!

I was only 14, and it was pretty over-the-top in so many ways. The music was great, but the mud, overfull outhouses, lack of food and nudity was all memorable, too. Plus, it was a minor miracle that I made it out of there still a maiden! How did my mom ever agree to let me go? I wasn't really a hippie chick. I found out early enough that weed kept me from concentrating and I wanted to go to college, so I didn't drop out. I did join a commune of sorts in college, but kept my goals in tact.

Oh and by the way the ticket was $14. for three days.

I missed all that; I was busy starting a business and having babies, no concerts, no nudity, no pot, no communes, no protests. I must have been boring, but I wasn't bored. There is something exhilarating about starting your own business and succeeding (and seeing it still succeeding 55 years later).

Jessie — medical people can be totally insane. I have always worked with wonderful groups of people and I still spend a fair amount of time with many of them that I have known for 30 years. A group of us were laughing the other day at lunch about a BBQ we set up outside the ER one 4.th of July many years ago.. One of the docs got the idea to put the baking potatoes in the steam sterilizer in central supply.—— they exploded everywhere. Ohhhh we got in so much trouble— again.

Erikahollister— wow. 14! No one ever expected Woodstock to become what it was. I’m sure your mom just could not even have conceived what was going to go down, It was a whole new concept for the day. It was really highly romanticized for sure. In reality, from this end of life, I am probably happy I wasn’t there.

Shirfleur1– what kind of a business did you start? Very forward thinking for a woman at a young age.

Jengetfit123– yes, a lot in common. I think a lot of nurses are cut from the same bolt of cloth.
